Conversely, those with postural and functional limitations cannot achieve and/or maintain an active, erect sitting posture for long periods. In order to make sit-ting easier for these people, an optimally adapted seasit-ting unit which compensates for the de cits of their bodies to the highest possible degree is required.
With its modular system design NUTEC provides innova-tive solutions for seat shell construction. Complemented by the intelligent modules, the respective seat shell can be very precisely adapted to the individual requirements of the movement-limited person by NUTEC. In this man-ner NUTEC improves the degree of activity by means of correct and safe sitting, and thus also decisively im-proves their quality of life. In addition to the individual, therapeutic bene ts, self-suf ciency and social integration are promoted.

Time and again the NUTEC product line enables optimum combinations for the largest possible therapeutic bene t. Sup-plemented with NUTEC modules made of anodised aluminium, extremely different seat shells can be adapted to individual needs. The components of the NUTEC Modular System can be extended at any time and are easily exchangeable. Thanks to its intelligent interfaces, the seat system can be easily separated from the wheelchair and transported without problems. With the NUTEC Miniature Hardware, the entire system with all its advantages can also be adapted to children’s individual needs.
NUTEC components can be exactly adap-ted to the individual body regions. Well-con-ceived accessories complete the system for individual seating shell design.

Adjustment with intelligence!
Headrests ensure the wheelchair user’s safety. The dynamic NUTEC headrests promote functional head posture, have different pads for supporting the head and can be adjusted to individual head shapes. They yield to the pressure exerted by the head and thus allow greater freedom of movement. Because the correct degree of hardness de nitely reduces loading stress, they are available with soft, medium or hard springs.
The fold-down headrest, which clearly simpli es every day life during transfer or for hair care, is brand new. It can be combined with all customary head rest pads.

A well adjusted seating unit promotes the best possible posture. Whether exible xation of the trunk to retain the user’s own mobility or non-elastic material for particularly stable support and seating posture correction: NUTEC promotes the optimum adaptation to the trunk with intelligent individual parts. Different trunk support brackets serve to ensure the lateral positioning; the swing-away versions facilitate transfer into and out of the seat shell. Furthermore, the height and width adjustability ensure the optimal seat adaptation.
The trunk support brackets can be easily released and pivoted away using the release button. In addi-tion, individually fabricated lateral support brackets can be selected and mounted on the back tubes of the wheelchair. Furthermore, toolless adjustment by means of the optional fast adjustment as well as slotted holes and holes in the component parts are possible.
An additional material layer ensures at and rm con-tact or support, respectively – whether in a T-shirt or with a winter jacket. Different shapes and tension directions of the belts, such as shoulder harness, but-ter y harness or “H” harness, guarantee the required support in the right place.

The basis for an optimum sitting posture is good and secure positioning of the pelvis. With NUTEC ele-ments the pelvis can be positioned in the seat shell such that the trunk and head also bene t. NUTEC supports individual seating with different materials and shapes. For better positioning and easier hand-ling ip-down as well as removable abductors are available.
In addition, the four-point lap belt can be used to promote the correct pelvis positioning.

NUTEC accessories ensure even more, stability and safety. Individual seat and back systems are easily and securely attached to the base frame with the connection hardware set and quickly removed again. With guide rails in diverse designs not only all available NUTEC component parts, but also many special design solutions can be attached. Beyond this, the NUTEC component parts can be extended with Otto Bock underarm rests and foot supports. As an appropriate supplement to the seating unit, therapy tables should be securely attached and individually adapted. The NUTEC communication tray mount is adjustable in its height, rotation and incli-nation as well as combinable with single and double guide rails. It is the ideal solution to accommodation of communication devices and individually fabricated therapy tables.

Even though constitution, size and age of the patients play an important role, it is good to know that nearly all NUTEC components are available in two sizes: one for adults and one for children. This is particularly important because patients who are still growing make special demands on seating systems.

The exible NUTEC seats for children can be adapted at any time and supple-mented with further NUTEC elements. Their cover is protected against moisture, removable and washable. The hardness of the high-quality foam upholstery can be coordinated with the maximum body weight of the small patients.
New and available in two sizes is the “NUTEC Adjustable Kids Seat“. Different seat lines, such as “Kimba”, can be excellently complemented by it. Even in the basic model, a hip-thigh guidance as well as adjustable trunk support brackets are included in the delivery package. Optionally available are solid or swing-away support brackets, adjustable summer/winter function, different head rests, abduc-tors, arm rests and a 25° back angle adjustment.
