HR professionals can gain expertise through many sources of training, development and experience. That expertise is validated through HRCI
certification. HRCI certificants maintain that high level of expertise and stay up-to-date in HR practices by maintaining certification through continual training, development and professional practice.
HRCI relies on several means to validate the expertise of HR professionals. These measures are validated through a study of the profession, called a practice analysis, conducted approximately every five years. This study provides the framework that HRCI measures in each certification, and confirms the experience and educational requirements associated with each HRCI certification.
HR CERTIFICATION VALIDATES YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE
WHY PURSUE AN HRCI CERTIFICATION?
Competency Based, Professionally Relevant Accredited and Globally Recognized Certificants Represents HR Professional Expertise By HR Professionals, for the Global HR Profession
ACCREDITED AND GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED CERTIFICANTS
More than 130,000 professionals hold one or more of HRCI’s six certifications, making them the largest network of HR certificants in the world. This global presence continues to grow, ensuring recognition of HRCI certifications by corporations, non-profits, government agencies and fellow professionals.
Certified HR professionals benefit from the relationships many organizations have with HRCI, as many actively support HRCI certifications by sponsoring their employees who pursue them and embedding them in professional development plans.
Established in 1976, HRCI is the largest HR certification organization in the world, and its core products are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). By meeting NCCA’s accreditation standards, HRCI demonstrates its independence, its commitment to quality and fairness and its responsibility to properly certifying professional competency.
REPRESENTS HR PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE
HR professionals work in every type of organization and in a variety of roles and specialties. Earning an HRCI certification may introduce you to areas of the profession that you may not work in every day and expands your base of HR knowledge. Your HRCI certification shows that you demonstrate expertise in human resources as a whole. This provides certified professionals with enhanced opportunities for professional flexibility in different areas of specialization. It also demonstrates to employers that you have dedicated the time necessary to gain expertise, both within your current responsibilities and beyond.
An HRCI certification also demonstrates dedication to the HR profession. At a time when organizations are increasingly concerned about employee retention and engagement,
certification shows fellow HR professionals and organizations that you are invested in your HR career and hold a recognized place in the profession.
Finally, certification promotes a common language among HR professionals through assessment against HRCI’s published bodies of knowledge, which serve as the blueprint for each exam.
BY HR PROFESSIONALS, FOR THE GLOBAL HR PROFESSION
Every year, hundreds of volunteers representing all global geographic regions, industries and specialties in the HR profession together contribute thousands of hours of time to HRCI. They create each question that appears on an examination, peer review the questions for technical validity and applicability to current HR practice, and ensure that the examinations measure professional competency by requiring applicants to demonstrate their ability to apply knowledge on the job. They ensure the work performed by HRCI reflects the needs of HR professionals around the world.
The efforts of these Subject Matter Experts ensure that HRCI certifications and examinations are relevant and reflect current work performed by HR professionals and adjust as changes in the practice of human resources take place.
