Overview of the team and role
The Finance team aims to strengthen financial and business integrity for sustainability through:
efficient and reliable accounting services to support business objectives; effective budget process to allocate resources in a manner that promotes
transparency, equity and accountability;
timely and accurate financial reporting to monitor financial perfiormance at team, group and division level;
sound internal control environment that minimises financial risks and meets compliance requirements;
professional financial advice to the Executive to inform and influence decisions and strategies for ensuring the long term financial sustainability of Comcare. The role sits in the Financial Accounting unit which is responsible for Comcare’s monthly and annual financial statements, asset accounting, taxation and treasury functions.
Qualifications/Experience
The successful applicant will have demonstrated capability and/or experience required to carry out the primary responsibilities of the role.
Desirable
Experience using Finance One; and
relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. undergraduate degree or CPA certification)
Job specific capabilities
1. Provide accounting and financial services to Comcare’s business groups.
2. Provide technical advice and support to Comcare staff on finance policy, issues, processes and systems.
The Finance Officer (Financial Accounting) will undertake a range of financial accounting functions, including the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, internal reporting, completing GST returns, undertaking asset accounting and stocktake.
Primary responsibilities
1. Provide assistance in the preparation of month-end and annual financial statements; 2. Prepare month-end journals and reconciliations;
3. Submit monthly and annual actual financial results to the Department of Finance; 4. Ensure correct accounting of non-financial assets;
5. Co-ordinate Comcare’s asset stocktake and asset re-valuations; 6. Provide secretariat services to Comcare’s Investment Committee.
7. Participate in corporate learning and development activities.
8. Promote workplace safety, equity and diversity and environment practices in the workplace.
9. Demonstrate and model safe attitudes, values and behaviours in order to uphold your health and safety duties.
10. Commit to, promote and model the APS Values and APS Code of Conduct.
