International Residencies – Broadening Your Horizon

The Part-Time MBA program includes two residencies at re-nowned business schools in dynamic business hubs, e. g. in North America or Asia. Each residency comprises one course from the mandatory curriculum. In addition, you will be exposed to the corporate world of the respective area, e. g. through guest speak-ers or company visits. This allows you to encounter a broad va-riety of business styles and practices first-hand. Furthermore, you will get to experience the cultural richness of the respective area through cultural activities and social events.**

Business Master Project (BMP) – Applying the Knowledge

The Business Master Project is a key element of the Part-Time MBA program. Together with your team, you will have the op-portunity to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired through-out the program to a real business project. You can either come up with a business plan to bring into life a business idea or de-velop a strategic plan for a current company issue (company con-sulting project).

To support you and your team in this process, there is a Project Module with courses and workshops on subjects such as project management, business plan writing or leading teams.

Social Sustainability Project (SSP) – Making a Difference

During the first year of the program, your entire class will work on the so-called Social Sustainability Project. The project should make a positive contribution to society. It is, however, up to each class to define the scope as well as the organizational structure of the respective project. As the project is also meant to strength-en the class spirit, it is designed as a concerted group effort, with all class members involved both in the initial decision making as well as the actual implementation. The accompanying Project Module facilitates the endeavor.

As a participant of the Mannheim MBA, you will face a series of extraordinary challenges. You will become a part of an elite group of high-achievers from across the globe and you will find that being surrounded by peers with im-pressive goals and ambitions is extremely inspiring. Mannheim MBA participants have already graduated in a range of fields with exceptional results, and are bright and ambitious professionals from all walks of life. On av-erage, they have gathered several years of professional work experience since obtaining their first academic de-gree. Our participants are, without exception, commit-ted, focused, dedicated and talented. While knowing how to lead, they are also great team players.

Our Multi-Competence Team Concept

One essential element of the MBA program is the team experience. Therefore, the Multi-Competence Team (MCT) concept is applied in all Mannheim Business School pro-grams. As the concept hinges on two basic tenets for an ideal learning experience – diversity and continuity – participants of the Mannheim Part-Time MBA are as-signed to heterogeneous teams at the beginning of the second program year. The Multi-Competence Teams will work together on different course assignments as well as the Business Master Project. This forms a major part of the learning process, as project management, intercultur-al competence and leadership skills are of utmost impor-tance to successfully complete the joint project. Your MBA is a time of self-exploration – and your MCT will help you make the most of this opportunity!

Develop New Perspectives

At its core, the Mannheim experience is built around an intense team experience. There are countless opportuni-ties to get involved in student-led activiopportuni-ties outside the classroom, such as sports activities, language courses, trips to museums and exhibitions as well as student clubs and social events like karaoke nights, wine-tasting or stu-dent parties. They are a chance to have fun, relax and make friends for life. As our alumni agree: The MBA pro-gram is a bonding experience enabling you to build a close-knit network of friendships that last a lifetime.

(12)

Team Experience

We believe that it is of utmost importance for you to be able to apply the knowledge you gain in the classroom to real business issues. During the second year of the Part-Time MBA program, you will put into practice ev-erything you have learned in class for the Business Mas-ter Project: Together with your Multi-Competence Team you will act as consultants for an international company or develop your own business plan. Here you will have the chance to learn how to make decisions in the face of complex data and tight deadlines – and defend your choices among your fellow participants.

This in-depth case-method learning puts you in the role of the decision maker and will give you the confidence to embark on a truly international business career.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

One key element of the Mannheim MBA is the Business Master Project, during which participants either work on a company consulting project or come up with a busi-ness plan. With ‘SPOTTED’, a concept making use of so-cial media to increase the efficiency of networking at professional events, four students of the Mannheim MBA Class of 2012, Alistair Bruce, Moritz Hertler, Stefan Re-uter and Christian Uhrich, even managed to take home first prize in the “European Business Plan of the Year” competition at London Business School.

Social Responsibility at the Core

Doing your MBA at Mannheim Business School involves far more than taking classes in Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance or Supply Chain Management. Business ethics and social respon-sibility have always been core elements of our school’s educa-tional concept. That is why the Social Sustainability Project is an integral and mandatory part of the Mannheim MBA curriculum.

Innovative Projects

The project should make a positive contribution to society on some level. However, it is up to each class to define the scope of the project, as it may pursue any number of goals: educational, promotional, humanitarian or social. The Social Sustainability Project puts your management abilities to the test and allows you to make a difference in the community. Past projects range from art workshops for children treated at University Hospital Mann-heim over introductory internet classes for senior citizens to a charity concert.
