Feast of St. Blaise
This year we will have to provide only the general blessing of St. Blaise due to the restrictions and safety protocols. There will be no individual blessings.
New Extension
The Archbishop has again extended the regulation that no one is under obligation to attend weekend
Masses or Holy Days until May23, Pentecost Sunday. We will continue to offer Saturday Masses at 5pm and Sunday Masses at 10am for a maximum of 100 persons per mass, or until that regulation is changed. Please use our signup on our website to register for masses. Thank you!
Distribution of Ashes
This year we will be using the “Roman” method to distribute ashes. In many parts of the world ashes are distributed
differently. the bishops of the U.S. have approved this method. Because of safety protocols we are not allowed to touch
Individuals. On Ash Wednesday, there will be a general blessing over the assembly and those who wish to receive ashes may come forward and receive a few sprinkled ashes on the top of their head. Our list of masses and services will be coming out in the coming weeks. Ash Wednesday is February 17th.
Valentine’s Day
We will be working on something “special” for Valentine’s Day. It will be explained in the coming weeks.
U.S. Bishops’ Statement on the Inauguration of President Joseph R. Biden
You can find the full text of this statement at
www.usccb.org/news/2021.
It is a frank statement of the issues and is hopeful that the bishops can work with the new administration. I will read parts of it on my Sunday Fireside Chat at 7pm.
Coming up in February
We present each February, our annual report, an accounting of our time, treasure and talent. It should be out around the middle of the month.
Thank you for all you have done in 2020!
It was a difficult year but we made it through because of your care and commitment. Much appreciation for all of your support!

year of saint joseph
Please join us in Celebrating the Year of St. Joseph by pray-ing the prayer that was written specifically for this special year and approved by Archbishop Leonard Blair, for use in our Archdiocese.
Prayer to Saint Joseph
Beloved Saint Joseph, chaste spouse of the Blessed Vir-gin Mary,
provident and loving father of the Child Jesus
grant us in this Year of Grace under your protection, that by your blessed intercession
our families be mirrors of holiness, may they stay together
in mutual help, in the obedience of faith
and in a sincere desire to distance ourselves from sin. May your holy figure of a Man of God
inspire all men to imitate your virtues
of humility, purity and trust in the Lord. Amen.
check it out!
Check out what the young people of our parish have been up to in reaching out to the community at this most difficult time. Go to the Confirmation page of our website (found under the Religious Education tab) and be inspired by the future of our church.
We are so proud of the work they have done and what they will be called to do in the future.
Please keep them in your prayers as they continue their preparation to receive Confirmation.
Office Hours - We are currently not in the office for regular office hours, as the hours that the church is open
have changed. If you need to contact us, please send an email to reled@saintdominicchurch.com and we can set up a time to meet.

Partners in Faith
We are excited to start back up with a drive-thru experience again this month. Families should have all received a Mail Chimp invitation to RSVP for Sunday, Monday or Tuesday of this week. Bring the worksheet your family completed about an Old Testament story, which will serve as attendance for January. Middle schoolers: please remember to bring your yellow worksheet from December, as well.
First Reconciliation kids should come to the drive-thru with both chapters 2 and 3 completed
(from your blue Reconciliation folder). Any additional optional coloring pages or puzzles as indicated on the lesson plan (still posted on the First Communion page of the website) are yours to keep.
Amazing job to everyone who made St. Sebastian Archery Target cookies as one of the additional opportunities for faith learning. They looked delicious—and a lot of fun. Biggest thanks to the Noonan family for their wonderful video and their
creativity.
The video will remain posted in the Parish Happenings box at the bottom of the homepage, so it’s not too late if your family still needs one of the 2 additional required activities for the year.

health ministry
The Connecticut statewide rollout plan for COVID vaccinations continues to evolve. All vaccinations must be pre-scheduled at this time—no walk-ins.
There are three phases so far : Phase 1a, 1b, and 1c. Phase 1a vaccinations are for health care personnel, long term care facility residents, and medical first responders.
Phase 1b now underway is for individuals 75 and older. Soon,
individuals between the ages of 65 and 74 can request vaccination appointments, as well as frontline essential workers and adults with underling medical conditions with increased risk for severe illness. People living in congregate settings like assisted living facilities and shelters will be vaccinated throughout Phase 1b. Phase 1C is not yet defined.
If you have already heard from your medical provider about receiving the vaccine, and you have a plan for an appointment, you do not need to do anything else. For current information about all aspects of COVID, including testing, vaccine answers, eligibility and scheduling for vaccinations visit ct.gov/coronavirus. When you are eligible for vaccination, there are a few options to schedule your appointment:
Enroll in the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS), an online scheduling portal. It allows anyone with an email to create an account. You can log in and search for a vaccine clinic near you when you are eligible. There are many providers that can be accessed through VAMS.
Schedule directly through a participating provider, such as UCONN Health in Farmington, Hartford Healthcare, Walgreens, and Yale New Haven Health. You may have already received an email or letter from your physician group on how to sign up directly.
Call the VAMS access line 877-918-2224 from 8am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. To control call volume, this line is only recommended for people who don’t have computer access or have had difficulty with the above 2 options. There may be a long wait. They do offer a call back option for the team to return your call that day, when possible. If you do not have a computer or phone to check out the ct.gov/coronavirus, call 2-1-1, the United Way free information about health and human resources in CT. If you are homebound and cannot get to a vaccination location, talk with your physician about other options.

What do you know about St. Sebastian?
His feast day is celebrated this month and we are going to learn more about him with COOKIES!
The Noonans, a parish family, are preparing a video to share with our community that shows how you can bake a unique looking and delicious cookie that helps us
remember some key facts about Sebastian’s life.
The video will be posted to the website in the next week for everyone to watch and bake along—we will let you know when it’s available!
(PIF families have instructions for how this activity can count as one of their 2 additional faith activities for the year.)

Prayer for Spiritual Revival
Awesome God, we plead for our nation. We pray for a great spiritual revival to sweep this land, beginning with us, the church, and spreading to people of this nation and to the entire world. May this be a revival of repentance from sin, return to virtue, bringing freedom from all addictions and restoring unity and holiness of the family. May we as individuals and as country seek your face and love you with all our hearts, our souls, and our minds. May we love each other as we love ourselves. May the Holy Spirit living in Mary spiritually revive the hearts of all our leaders to serve and please You. Amen.
“Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother." — Saint Padre Pio
