US Army, Deployed, Operation Iraqi Freedom/Operation New Dawn, Basra, Iraq. 2010-2011. Duties: NCO in charge of jazz combo, rhythm and blues band; bassist in Latin and rock bands. Heavily involved in a partnership with the Basra University music department which involved a lecture series in western music for faculty and students, a series of string pedagogy workshops and rehearsals, and curriculum development. US Army School of Music, Directorate of Training and Doctrine, Ft. Story, VA.

Instructional Systems Specialist. NSPS: YA-1750-02. (GS-11) January-August 2009. Duties include managing training development teams for the Army’s School of Music, and

Curriculum Development and Design. Writing and instructing courses as needed in Music History, Popular and American Music, Music Theory, Applied Music, Ensembles. Analysis and design of courses using video, multimedia, and distance learning technology. Research to develop information for use in designing and developing instructional courseware. Utilizes the Army’s Systems Approach to Training and Automated Systems Approach to Training.

Andress Senior High School, El Paso, TX. April-May 2007.

Orchestra Director. Assigned to Andress HS via the United States Army’s Partners in Education

Program to replace the orchestra director who resigned on short notice in February 2007. The district was not able to secure a qualified substitute or full time replacement and all concerts, trips, and contests were canceled. This situation was presented to the command of the 387th CRC at which time I was assigned to Andress HS to assume all responsibilities for the Varsity and Junior Varsity

Orchestras as well as class piano. All concerts and contests were rescheduled and the Varsity Orchestra received straight “I” ratings at contest in performance and sight reading.

Military Skills Instructor. Mobilized to instruct individual replacement soldiers and civilian contractors for deployment to Iraq. See description under Military.
