From Fr. Ed…

Following Jesus does not mean copying His life. It means making His choice of life in the place where you find yourself. It means living for the valuesfor which Jesus lived and died.

It means following the path He took and seeing things as He saw them.

If there is anything in which this life can be expressed, in which God has revealed Himself most clearly, it is the reality of love. Only what has turned to love in lifewill be preserved.

We can learn what love is from Jesus. He is the one who has loved the most. He will teach us to look outside of ourselves. For no one has greater lovethan he who lays down his life for his friends. He will also teach us to have unlimited space in our hearts for others: 'Come to me, all who are weary and over-burdened and I will give you rest.' We need to be converted to love every day. Change all our energies, all our potential, into selfless gifts for the other person. Then we will be changed from within and through us God's Kingdom will break into the world. We are called to follow Jesus closely. With Him we will take the road up to Jerusalem, the city of suffering and glorification. With Him we will give everything that the Kingdom may come.

On this road we are called to be least of all and not master, to carry other's burdens and not lay our own on them, to give freedom instead of taking it, to grow poor in order to make others rich, and to take the cross upon ourselves and bringing joy to others, to die in order that others may live.

So let’s keep Jesus Christ before our eyes. Don't hesitate to go anywhere He leads; don't stay where we are and looking back, but look forward with enthusiasm for what lies ahead.

Pope Francis’ Prayer

Pope Francis’ Prayer

Pope Francis’ Prayer

Pope Francis’ Prayer

for the Jubilee Year of Mercy

for the Jubilee Year of Mercy

for the Jubilee Year of Mercy

for the Jubilee Year of Mercy

Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be

merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: "If you knew the gift of God!"

You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and

glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God.

Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your

Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

St. Joseph School will hold an Open House on Sunday, January 31st from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Upper School. The Early Childhood Learning Center will hold its Open House on Sunday February 7th. At that time, they will provide enrollment information, offer tours and accept registrations for the 2016-17 school year.

Programs available are for children who will turn three or four by December 31, 2016 for the preschool. Students who will be eligible for kindergarten must be five by December 31, 2016. Families may inquire about tours, as well as register for the elementary and middle school programs.

A variety of academic and enrichment activities are available. The school also provides before and after school child care opportunities. The program has been providing outstanding care and education for children since 1929. St. Joseph School is also the recent recipient of a grant from The Catholic Schools Foundation for its programs that provide special education. For more information, please call 781-396-3636.

schools in the Archdiocese of Boston?

The Archdiocese of Boston is holding a special second collection

during the weekend of January 16-17. The purpose of this collection is to help Catholic elementary schools in our Archdiocese assist more families with demonstrated financial need and to help grow enrollment. If your parish is associated with a school, your school will receive 50% of the funds collected at your parish. The remaining funds will be distributed to other schools in the Archdiocese of Boston.

In our Archdiocese:

 96% of Catholic school students matriculate to college

 Catholic elementary school students score well above average

on national assessments

Studies show that Catholic school students are:

 Academically more confident with greater proficiency in writing

and public speaking

 Attending Mass more frequently

 More tolerant of diverse views

 More engaged in their communities and more likely to volunteer
