Political Geography:

Citrus County leans slightly Republican in national, state, and

local races, electing a mix of some local Conservative Democrats and Republicans. For Presidential elections voting generally leans toward Republican candidates.

For the majority of the presidential elections the Republican

candidates were voted for rather then independent or democrats.

km² are land and the rest 490 km² is water.

Latitude: 28˚ N  Longitude: 82˚ W

Citrus County was named after its Citrus Groves that surround it.

It was first named in 1887, when it was originally part of Hernando County.

people residing in Citrus County. For every one hundred males there is “91.4” males. The average income for the population for males is around 38,000 while the females earn 6,000 less, at

Urban Patterns

The population of Citrus County as of 2009 was 140,357. From

April 1st 2000 to July 1st 2009 the population increased by 18.9%.

With that increase that means the population in 2000 was 113,829.

Citrus County is not considered to be an urbanized area because

it only has 200 people per square mile, and in order to be an urbanized area you need to have at least 1,000 people per square mile.

Personal Services include local churches such as Assemblies of

God and Church of the Nazarene. Consumer services are also Publix, Wal-Mart, and the local school: Inverness Christian Academy.

Transportation and Information Services would be the Transit

Bus which provides everyone living in Citrus County with transportation Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Retail Services include: Cravings On The Water, Brooklyn’s Deli

Too! and Crackers Bar and Grill.
