PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Co-Chair the ARNP/PA Council. Established the council facilitating building an infrastructure for onboarding and credentialing.
Co-Founded CREWS (Collaborative Results in Education With Simulation). Simulation through CREWS provides time-pressured, multidisciplinary education using realistic cues. This form of active learning helps people integrate their cognitive, technical and
communication skills. Through debriefing the simulation, each participant learns about individual and team performance gaps to improve safe practice and patient outcomes. Developed a cost-effective medical staffing plan utilizing both neonatal nurse practitioners
and pediatric nurse practitioners for the renovation and expansion of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics’ 70-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Assisted with the partnership between the University of Iowa College of Nursing and the University of Missouri in Kansas City resulting in the University of Iowa’s Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program.
Implemented the use of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Founding president of the Iowa Association of Neonatal Nurses (term 1/95 – 1/98). Initiated chapter development October, 1994. Received notification of acceptance by NANN
