SC School of Dog Grooming

Dear Prospective Student,

I would like to welcome you into the world of dog grooming. This is a profession that not only gives you personal satisfaction, but also gives you the opportunity to be on your own. Groomers are needed all over the world. There are many rewarding fields to enter. The pet industry offers pet shops, kennels, veterinarians, grooming shops, suppliers, mobile groomers, dog shows, and much more. If you love animals, make a career of working with them. Each day is new and exciting. Each dog has its own personality that you will get to know, and look forward to seeing in the future. Enclosed you will find information on the South Carolina School of Dog Grooming. Here are some great reasons to choose our school:

 We are a hands-on school.

We have a large clientele of student dogs to groom.

You will groom approximately 90% of the 12 week course.

We have an easy going, laid back, stress free environment.

You are welcome to talk to some of our former students for recommendation.

We have a National Dog Groomer’s Association certified master groomer as our dedicated

instructor who is focused on your needs. The instructor is not required to “groom” and teach at the same time.

We ask you to please feel free to call us after you have graduated to ask questions.

You get to open your own business on paper so when you are ready to open a shop on your

own, you already know how.

We care about you, and your future.

We offer you the knowledge that empowers you to open a successful business, or work for someone else. Do not sell yourself short. You will have the knowledge that it takes to carry you through the fears of a competitive business world. We fully believe that our school is the most comprehensive, hands-on, and friendly.

We think that the key to our success and the success of our graduates is undeniably related to our main concept, which is to provide you with all the knowledge that it takes for quality grooming, and to open a profitable business that will give you a lifetime of happiness, or work for someone else in a profitable, and rewarding career. This is only the beginning, and the sky is the limit. It all depends on you.

Thank you and good luck in choosing your school,

Kathleen N. White, RN

Grading System

Credits

Student Complaints

Cancellation and Refund Policy

You will be graded on:

Grooming Quality Attention Progress Lab Tests

 AKC Group Tests

Grading Percentages:

A 95 - 100 B 81 - 94

C 75 - 80 (Need more than 12 Weeks) D 70 - 74 (Failing, no certificate) F Below 70 (No certificate)

All grooming schools in the USA are private organizations. The procedures of each school vary. Therefore, credits can not be transferred from school to school.

Any complaint or grievance from the student should be dealt with in an adult manner, where both parties are in agreement with the solution. If a solution can not be reached, the matter should be presented to the school in writing. Student also has the option to contact the SC Commission on Higher Education at (803) 737-2260 regarding any complaints.

Students may cancel this agreement, without penalty, within three (3) days from the date on which the enrollment agreement is signed. Thereafter, but prior to commencement of classes, the school will retain a one hundred dollar ($100.00), non-refundable fee. After classes begin, during the first sixty percent (60%) of the program. the school will refund a pro-rated portion of tuition for the time the student actually attended, less $100.00 dollars. Thereafter, the school will charge for the entire course. Refunds will be made within forty (40) days after the effective date of termination if a written request for refund is received.

þ Students are not required to attend school on Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Week, Christmas Week, New Year’s Week or during major grooming seminars. (Holiday dates available upon request)

þ If you attend a grooming seminar, the time can be counted as class time but the seminar will be at your expense.

þ We keep a record of all vets, grooming shops, pet stores and kennels seeking professional groomers. We will assist you in every way available to us in job placement. The demand for dog groomers is high, but we cannot guarantee job placement.

þ This is a “working” shop atmosphere so you will be required to do “chores” as you would in a shop you work in.

þ The maximum number of students per class is 5.

þ We have a small library available for student knowledge and research.

þ Sorry, no night or weekend classes offered.

Other Information

Progress will be reported daily by review of dogs groomed with instructor, weekly by AKC Group Tests (7 total) and final “General Health” exam.

If you love animals, make a career of working with them every day.
