Hello Year 4, here are is a summary of all of the learning and activities for
this week. By 8:30 each day I will post on Dojo explaining the day’s work.
There is a basic timetable to follow to help you and your adults at home. The
learning each day can be done in any order you like. However, it is really
important that you only complete the learning for the day you are on and not
jump ahead. This is especially important for anybody who does attend school
as you will be completing the same work and following the same timetable.
Reading
Our reading activities this week will focus on our topic which is
Water, Water Everywhere.
Spelling
This week we are looking at homophones. There are two spelling activities.
Here is a video for extra help:

For the next couple of weeks in PSHCE we are thinking about internet safety. We are starting this week by thinking about cyberbullying – What does it mean? Can you recognise it? How could you respond to a hurtful message online?
What is Cyber bullying?
If somebody keeps saying hurtful things on purpose, we might count that as bullying. It is just the same online, but we call that cyberbullying.
While using technology, you might hear or see words that are harmful to you or others. It is important that you understand you can upset people by what you say online and how to respond if someone is upsetting you online.
Think about the following questions (If you have an adult or older brother or sister with you, it would help to discuss your ideas with them).
Question 1 - Commenting while playing a game online
A)If you were player 34, how would you feel?
Question 2 - Responding to text messages
Claire
Sam
C)If you were Sam, how would you feel?
You may have thought about these or discussed them with your adult
Question 1 - Player 34 was being positive after the game and commented on how well player 21 did. That showed gamesmanship and understanding of how to encourage and support others. Player 21 responded negatively to player 34 and was saying things that could upset player 34.
If player 21 keeps saying hurtful things to player 34 – that would be cyberbullying.
Question 2 – Sam would be feeling left out and sad that she wasn’t invited and. It was Akeem’s decision not to invite Sam to his party, but Claire could have thought about how Sam was feeling and sent a different message. She didn’t have to ask if Sam was surprised and that tell her Akeem doesn’t like her. Claire could have reminded Sam that she doesn’t really spend time with Akeem at school, so that’s probably why she didn’t get invited.
1 ) Thinking about how you would feel, complete the following.
2) Thinking about how could compose text messages to support someone as well as how to support yourself, complete the following (Rani is the one who wrote ‘You were rubbish in science today’).
