Description
When choosing the most appropriate remote access method for
connecting to Bank network applications from home or while traveling, consider the following:
• When available, take advantage of 3rd-party Internet connections (broadband) to establish a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to the Bank’s network, for the best
performance at relatively-low costs. Access options include wireless, DSL and Cable 3rd-party Internet connections.
• Some methods allow Notes access only.
• Some dial-up methods involve additional surcharges. What can I access?
Some methods provide access to Lotus Notes only, others allow access to all of the Bank’s network applications, including—
• Internet (via Internet Explorer) • Bank Intranet (via Internet
Explorer)
• Network Drives (via http://Metaframe) • SAP
What can I access from the Internet?
Once you are connected to the Internet, use Webmail for Lotus Notes access only (on non-Bank computer) or Notes Pass-thru from the Lotus Notes program (installed on your workstation).

Mobile Lite is a Lotus Notes application and database that contains telephone numbers worldwide, allowing dial-up access to Notes servers. Once connected, staff can access e-mail and other Notes databases via
replication. Mobile Lite is recommended as a back up for Notes e-mail access when a 3rd party Internet connection, Webmail, AT&T or SLIP is not available.
How to Access Mobile Lite
1) Click the LotusNotes shortcut and enter your Notes password.
2) In the At location field, select Remote.
3) When the Welcome Page displays, click the Replication bookmark .
4) In the Replication window, double-click the Mobile Lite icon
.
How to configure Mobile Lite to Dial a
New Number
For every new location when traveling, you need to configure the proper local phone number to dial up a Notes server.
1) Under Source, select Country and
City. This is where you are.
2) Under Destination, select Country and
Site: This is the place closest to your location that has a Lotus Notes access number available, and if possible, within a local dialing area code.
For the Site field, select a local LN
Server phone number as your first choice, when available. Note that
SITA numbers add a 43 cents-per-minute surcharge, billed to your unit.
4) Click Calculate the number.
The appropriate phone number will be extracted from the Mobile Lite
database.

6) Click Configure this connection 7) Click Yes to continue.
8) When The configuration is done displays, click OK. Your workstation is now configured to replicate Notes Mail at this location.
How to Replicate and Access Mail
When out of the office, replicating Notes databases ensures the fastest performance. The replication process updates the local mail replica (on the hard-drive) with the server mail database (on the Bank’s network) sending out and bringing in new email.1) Return to the Replication window.
2) Click Start Now (top left on the Replication page) and wait until all tasks are completed. You will know they are completed when the words
idle or no replication in progress display at the bottom.
3) In the Replication page, double click
the Mail button to launch Mail. You are now working in your Local mail database. Always remember to replicate again after you have sent, replied or forwarded new mail.
4) When traveling to another country/city, repeat steps 1 thru 9 above under How to configure Mobile Lite to Dial a New Number.
How to Customize Replication Settings Mobile Lite allows truncating (paring down) incoming emails and their attachments. By setting size limits for incoming mail and attachments you speed up replication and usually receive most email messages in their entirety. If a longer email of interest was truncated, you can re-replicate that specific email (and attachment) to receive all of it.
1) In Lotus Notes, click the Replication bookmark .
2) Click the Replication Settings
button in the Scope column next to the local Mail Database .
3) In the Replication settings window, for
the Receive documents from server
settings, select Partial Documents via
the drop-down menu.
4) Check on Truncate documents
larger than 40 kb
5) Check on Limit attachment size to
40 kb
6) Click OK. From now on, your replications will truncate documents that are above the kilobyte size you specified.
Retrieving Truncated E-mail and Attachments
If an e-mail or attachment was truncated during replication, Notes flags it with a ripped page symbol. In order to retrieve them fully, you will need to mark the truncated messages and replicate them again as follows:
1) In your Inbox, click to the left of the
emails that were truncated to leave a
checkmark.
√ Joe Sample with attachment
2) In the Notes menu at top, click the
Actions menu.
3) Click Retrieve entire document.
4) When prompted, toggle on Get
documents now….
5) Click OK
6) When completed, open the
Replication page and verify that the document has replicated again, but this time in its entirety.

Description
ISP26 or ISP27 under Broadband Connections: Bank staff with access to a broadband Internet 3rd party provider, such as DSL, Cable, or a wireless connection, can access Lotus Notes via one of the Bank’s pass-thru servers or Webmail.
For pass-thru access you connect to the Internet, log into Notes, and then select the ISP26 or ISP27 Location. The pass-thru server (wbln0026 or wbln0027) acts as a middle-man between the Internet and the Bank’s network.
The pass-thru server’s job is to safely transmit traffic between your workstation on the Internet and the Mail database on the Bank’s internal network.

ISP26 or ISP27 under Dial-Up Connections: Under most configurations, ISP26/27 interacts with the Notes Mail database on the server directly. Thus, performance would be very slow under a dial-up connection. However, if your laptop has a local Replica installed, and you have connected via dial-up, we recommend you replicate under ISP26 or ISP27. For more information, see Support and More Information below.
Establishing a Broadband Connection via Internet Cable

You may be asked for credit card information for payment in order to subscribe, before you can browse the Internet.
6) Password Prompts: If you are prompted for a password or private key, enter the one provided by your service provider.
See the connected icon in the lower-right corner when connected to the Internet.

Introduction
Manual Access to Network Drives When Bank staff members connect to the Bank’s network outside of their Bank-premises offices, using AT&T, SLIP or a visiting office network connection, the workstation will usually not automatically connect to their network drives, such as the L, N, M or P drive. This is by design. Since the workstation connects from a greater distance, using a slower connection than in its usual office location, travelers and home-users need manual control over when to access network drives.
Otherwise they would spend a lot of time waiting for these drive connections every time they log in—whether they need them or not. Metaframe Web Service
The Metaframe Web service, running on a server on the Bank’s network, is a tool for accessing network drives manually when actually needed. (It also allows running other programs which may not be available on the computer.)
Summarized, this service works as follows: (1) Connect the workstation to the Bank’s
network in a visiting Bank office or via a remote access method such as AT&T. (2) Via Internet Explorer, browse to the
Metaframe Web page and connect the Metaframe server to the network drives. (3) Browse to the needed file(s) on the
network and copy them to the hard drive of your workstation or vice-versa.
Accessing your Files via Metaframe
1) Establish a connection to the Bank’snetwork using an AT&T (dial-up or broadband), World Bank VPN, SLIP, or network connection when visiting a Bank office.
2) Open Internet Explorer.
3) Type Metaframe in the browser address box.
Press the Enter
4) key. The Metaframe Application window opens.
5) Click Explorer (Map Network Drives).
6) In Log On to Windows, in the User
name field, type wb[your upi #].
7) In the Password field, type your networkpassword.
8) Click OK. You will see progress
messages indicating that the Metaframe server has successfully logged onto the network and connected to your drives.
Selecting the Security Access Level
1) If the Client File Security window
displays--under “What access should be allowed?” Click “Full Access”.
