°C, March -2° C.

NORTHERN

LIGHTS CHASE

When taking photos of the Northern Lights, consider this

advice from famous Northern Lights hunter Kjetil Skogli:

Equipment: full frame camera with bright wide-angle lens,

Canon 5D with aperture 1.6 and tripod.

ISO: 200 – 800

Aperture: 1.6

Shutter: Between 5 and 10 seconds

Focus: Manual focus set to infinity.

Extra tip: Some moonlight over the landscape makes the

photo even more interesting.

Phot o: Bjørn Jør gensen © w w w .ar cticphot o.no

TWO TYPES:

1.

Northern Lights Chase: These activities go in search of the

best possible place on any given night to find clear sky and then

the Northern Lights. The chase goes by bus, minibus, van, car or

boat. If you are in a hurry and don’t mind getting back late, then

these are a good option with high chances of finding the lights.

Choose the tour that best suits you, based on duration, price,

group size and what is included.

2. Northern Lights Experience: These activities go to one dark,

scenic and comfortable location where you have good chances

of seeing the Northern Lights, and at the same time can try exciting

and interesting activities or experience some North Norwegian

culture. Do consider staying overnight away from the main light

pollution, which also increase your chances (if you stay awake!)

WHICH NORTHERN LIGHTS TOUR TO CHOOSE?

SNOWSHOEING

If you can walk, you can go snow-shoeing. Easy to learn and master and gets you quickly to good North-ern Lights spots.

MEAL

Hot meal provided. Often meat or fish-based, so vegetarian options must be requested in advance. BED

A modern version of a traditional Sami herdsmen’s tent and an excellent place to seek shelter and warmth.

CHILD

Suitable for children between 2 and 12. Please take extra care when dressing young children for outdoor winter temperatures.

Most of the Northern Lights outbursts visible from Tromsø

are green, but large outbursts can also include other

colours.

The greatest frequency is between 6pm and 2am.

Patience and dedication will pay off. The Northern Lights

Tromsø Lyngshest

Welcome to Tromsø’s oldest breed of Lyngen horse. The horse, which was conceived and born under the warm glow of the Midnight Sun, grew up on cold nights beneath the Northern Lights, was formed in and has become part of the North Norwegian cultural spirit.

The versatility, friendliness and beautiful appearance of the Lyngen horse will captivate everyone who experiences it.

You will get to know the stable workmate of the fisherman- farmer, hear about the horse’s dramatic history and how it was saved after the Second World War.

We offer horseback riding trips of various lengths in the picturesque North Norwegian landscape. Good conditions for Northern Lights on farm visit or a stay at our cabin.
