Youth Ministry News
Last Weekend, we held the Rite of Enrollment for our Confirmation Candidates. They pledged their commitment to learning more about their faith and opening their hearts and minds to the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. We ask all in our Community to pray for our students during this preparation time!
Our 9th Grade Class includes: Brian Alder, Taylor Aleo, Erin Boddington, Vincent Castillo, Alec Dronzkowski, Amanda Hogness, Hanna Kuyilampara, Jacklyn Masch, Brianna Morgan, Aaron Nabinger, Luke Roberts, Amelia Shereda, Matthew Sucharski, Samantha Tanner and Gabby Vincent.
Next Weekend is a big weekend in Youth Ministry! On Friday, October 23, we hold our AnnualTrunk or Treat from 7-8:30 p.m. Cars/Vans should arrive around 6:15 p.m. to begin decorating their vehicles and as usual, our parking attendants will be there to direct. The actual event begins at 7:00 p.m. and this year due to the overcrowding we had last year, only those who RSVP will be allowed in the Parish Hall afterwards. Please RSVP by Tuesday, October 20th as seating is limited. See the Reservation form
included and drop it off to your Catechist or to the Parish or Faith Formation Office during regular business hours
Our Annual Pumpkin Sale is Sunday, October 25 from 8:30-1:00 p.m. in the 13 Mile Rd. Campus Parking Lot. Please stop by and support our students attending the High School Conference, Rainbow 34, by purchasing a pumpkin!
We have pumpkins (Large & pie), gourds and hay stalks for sale. We receive a portion of all items sold so please stop by and see us for all your Fall decorating!
Our next High School Ministry Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 20 from 7-9 p.m. in the Youth Room. We hope all our students in grades 9-12 will consider joining us for the High School Conference, Rainbow XXXIV to be held on January 30 & 31, 2016. Registration has begun and continues until Tuesday, November 3rd. This is a very worthwhile conference, just ask anyone who has attended!
Society of St. Vincent de Paul
In the Gospel today, Jesus tells his disciples: “Anyone among you who aspires to greatness must serve the rest, whoever wants to rank first among you must serve the needs of all.” When you give furniture, household items and clothing to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, you give hope to your neighbors who have nothing.
On October 28, 2015 there will be a pasta dinner at the 13 Mile Campus in the Social Hall to raise additional
funds for the Society. Several bas- kets have been donated that we will raffle off. Please consider attending this dinner.
We would like to thank everyone who either participated in the walk or made a donation to us for the walk.
Please continue to pray or those who are homeless, those who live in poverty, the people of South Caroli- na, Haiti, Africa and Syria and for all those who minister to the needs of the poor around the world.

Prayer Group Meeting Thursday, 7pm at the Utica Road Campus.
All are welcome to join us.
St. Pio Men’s Club
Our first meeting of the NEW St. Pio Men’s Club was a success. Fifteen men were in attendance, there were some familiar faces and many new faces - all excited to be part of St. Pio Men’s Club. Our new feature,
“Crossing the Goal”, was a hit. “Crossing the Goal” is an evangelization series with a football theme, to equip and empower catholic men to become and stay spiritually fit in their faith We watch a video, followed by discussion,
prior to conducting Men’s Club business.
We invite all men of the parish, 18 years or older, to check us out. The next meeting is Monday, October 19th, at 7pm in the 13 Mile Road Conference
Room. For more information, contact Jim Chamberlin at (586) 293-2387
From Your St. Pio Finance Council
Dear Parishioners,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support of our Parish through your financial contributions each week and also responding to our request to increase your weekly contributions. As you know, our goal for each week is $12,575. This amount allows our Parish to pay the bills, maintain our outreach programs, pay down our debt, and put some money away in savings.
Here are some facts about our Parish:
Number of envelopes issued: 1,447
Average Envelopes used per week: 397 or 27%
As you can see, your contributions truly matter and every amount, no matter how small, is important. We again ask, if you are able to, please consider increasing your collection.
In terms of our debt:
At the merger, we owed: $713,668.33
To date, we owe: $537,889.91 - - - Over the last 15 months,
$175,783.42 was paid toward our debt thanks to Fr. Greg and his staff meticulously scrutinizing every purchase and by careful budgeting.
We would also like to encourage you to consider the e-giving program for contributing to the Parish. This way, your contribution remains consistent at a level you are comfortable with and in many ways, without the added worry of remembering to bring your church envelope each week. Signing up for e-giving will only take a few minutes of your time. Please contact the Parish Office for more details.
Thank you again for your continued financial support of St. Pio.

Thinking About Joining the Catholic Church?
Every year in the Archdio- cese of Detroit hundreds of people join the Catholic Church. Since becoming Catholic requires a com- mitment to God, the Church and a worshipping community, the person must enter a process of preparation and discernment. In our day and age, this process is called the RCIA, an acronym for Rite of Christian Ini- tiation of Adults.
In the RCIA a person takes a journey with the RCIA Team to learn about and come closer to God.
Part of learning about God means that you need to learn about God’s Church. In the RCIA we learn about how the Church was formed, and many of the particulars that are unique to Catholicism.
While learning about Ca- tholicism is essential to the RCIA, it is only part of the process. The most important part of the RCIA is discovering, developing, and nurtur- ing your relationship with God. If you feel in your heart that God is calling you, the parish community of St. Pio of Pietrelcina welcomes you!
The RCIA process is open to people who are not baptized, baptized in another Christian faith, or baptized a Catholic but who have never received the Sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation.
If you or anyone you know is interested in the RCIA process, and would like to know more please contact Ellen Olivier at 586-218-9211.

It’s that time of year again, the annual holiday food drive runs from October 5, 2015 - November 9, 2015 The purpose of the St. Pio Holiday Food drive is to ensure that those in need will

collecting nonperishable food items and also asking for cash
donations to offset the cost of purchasing perishable items.
In the vestibule you will find bags with grocery lists attached. We are asking that
you fill the bag by mixing and matching the items on the list.
Items may be dropped off in the front vestibule at either campus or at the Christian Service Office located at the
13 Mile Campus.
If you would prefer to make a cash donation, place your donation in a envelope marked Food Drive along with your name and phone number and place in the collection basket.
