Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease.”
(Pope John Paul II, Dominicae Cenae, Feb 1980) Welcome Back
We welcome the Faithful returning to in-person participa-tion of the Sunday Mass! We are so happy to have you here!

From the Office of Religious Education
David M Wallace, Director| [email protected] | (540) 635-3780
Darryl & Susan Adams, Confirmation Coordinator & RE Assistant | [email protected] We welcomed our new pastor, Fr Daniel Gee, on June 24. What is a pastor and what is his role? According to the Code of Canon Law: “The pastor (parochus) is the proper pastor
(pastor) of the parish entrusted to him, exercising the pastoral care of the community committed to him under the authority of the diocesan bishop in whose ministry of Christ he has been called to share, so that for that same community he carries out the functions of teaching, sanctifying, and governing, also with the cooperation of other presbyters or deacons and with the assistance of lay members of the Christian faithful, according to the norm of law” (c 519). “To become a pastor validly, one must be in the sacred order of the presbyterate. Moreover, he is to be out-standing in sound doctrine and integrity of morals and endowed with zeal for souls and other virtues; he is also to possess those qualities which are required by universal or particular law to care for the parish in question” (c 521). “A pastor is obliged to make provision so that the word of God is proclaimed in its entirety to those living in the parish; for this reason, he is to take care that the lay members of the Christian faithful are instructed in the truths of the faith, especially by giving a homily on Sundays and holy days of obligation and by offering catechetical instruction. He is to foster works through which the spirit of the gospel is promoted, even in what pertains to social justice. He is to have particular care for the Catholic education of children and youth. He is to make every effort, even with the collaboration of the Christian faithful, so that the message of the gospel comes also to those who have ceased the practice of their religion or do not profess the true faith. The pastor is to see to it that the Most Holy Eucharist is the center of the parish assembly of the faithful. He is to work so that the Christian faithful are nourished through the devout celebration of the sacraments and, in a special way, that they fre-quently approach the sacraments of the Most Holy Eucharist and penance. He is also to endeavor that they are led to practice prayer even as families and take part consciously and actively in the sacred liturgy which, under the authority of the diocesan bishop, the pastor must direct in his own parish and is bound to watch over so that no abuses creep in” (c 528). Next week, we’ll continue looking at the role of the pastor, as well as learn what exactly a “parochial vicar” is.
CCD 2021-2022: We are hoping to resume regular in-person catechism classes in the fall, on Tuesday afternoons/ evenings. We are looking for catechists who can help rebuild our program. Visit the parish website for online enroll-ment. We need students to fill our classrooms. Who’s ready to help proclaim and build the Kingdom?
Farewell, Thank You, And Welcome!
The Knights Council of St John the Baptist wish to thank Father Fasano as our pastor for his many years of service along with Father Cozzi as our parochial vicar and adminis-trator. We also want to welcome Father Gee and look for-ward to assisting Father with the needs of the parish.

June 28 – St. Irenaeus “Just as bread from the earth, when
it receives the invocation of God, is no longer common bread but the Eucharist, made up of two elements, one earthly and one heavenly, so also our bodies, in receiving the Eucharist, are no longer corruptible, for they have the hope of resurrection.”

DIVINE MERCY SAID: "At three
o'clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particu-larly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world. I will allow you to enter into My mortal sorrow. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My
Pas-sion..." (St. Faustina Diary 1320) Used with permission of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the BVM

Children’s Holy Hour
Starting to plan the summer for your children? Please consider time with Jesus by attending a Children’s Holy Hour! We come together to pray every Thursday 3:00-4:00pm. Prayers are said together with children taking turns leading a decade . Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3:05 and the Holy Rosary is prayed at 3:40. The pur-pose of this hour is to give children a designated time with their parents to pray with their peers, to practice leading prayers, and to learn the importance of sacred silence. Some children may not be ready for the whole hour, so please just come for as long as you are able. Any time with Jesus is time well spent! We ask the par-ish to please pray for these children that they may devel-op a lifelong devotion to Jesus in Adoration! We also ask your pardon during this hour as the children learn the beauty of sacred silence. Any questions: Please contact: Jack & Heather Hsu at [email protected]
Thank you for your prayers!

Religious Freedom Week Prayer
Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome - for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us - this great land will always be “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
