Agent for PPC 64

You can install the ESM agent for Linux PPC64 for ESM 6.5.3.

The ESM 6.5.3 agent for Linux PPC 64 is presently supported on Security Update (SU) 30.

Note:You cannot upgrade the ESM 6.5.3 agent for Linux PPC 64 to ESM 6.5.3 SP1 or ESM 6.5.3 SP2. However, you can upgrade the ESM 6.5.3 agent for Linux PPC 64 to ESM 9.0 or later.

The installer for the ESM 6.5.3 agent for Linux PPC 64 is available as a compressed file named esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz. Download this compressed file from the following link and extract it to a local directory:

To install the Symantec ESM 6.5.3 agent

Log on as a superuser to the computer where you want to install the ESM agent.

At the command prompt, change to the directory where you have copied the

esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz file.

Extract the esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz file to a directory.

Change to the lnx-ppc64\esm65 directory within the directory where you extracted esm65_unixlnx-ppc64.tgz.

Type a 2 to perform a basic installation of the agent.

Type an A if you accept the terms of license agreement.

Type the name of the directory where you want to install the agent.

Type the full path of the tar/tgz file.

Type the name of the ESM manager to which you want to register the agent.

Type the TCP port number of the ESM manager. The default port number is 5600.

Type the ESM access name that is used to log on the ESM manager.

Type the password for the access name.

Type the name of the computer on which you want to install the ESM agent. You can type any of the following names for the computer:

■ Host name

■ Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN)

■ IP address

Do one of the following:

■ Type a 1 to disable LiveUpdate on the agent.

■ Type a 2 to enable all managers that register the agent to update the agent.

■ Type a 3 to select the managers that can update the agent. To install the Symantec ESM 6.5.3 agent silently
