Adapter Installation

Getting Started:

A USB hub, flash drive, mouse, and keyboard are required for installation purposes. You will need the USB hub so that the USB port on the unit is available for the Wireless Adapter. You may connect the USB hub, mouse, and keyboard now.

Do not plug the USB Wireless Adapter into the unit until instructed to do so.

Close Winboard Embedded by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner of the window.

Do not select the shutdown button.

To Install:

1. To install, you will first need to save the Belkin installation software from the CD or download it from the internet to a flash drive.

2. Run the Belkin 54 Mbps Wireless Network Adapter Installation software from the location you saved the install- ation software.

3. Click next.

4. Install to the default location. (C:\Program Files\Program Files\Belkin\F5D7050v3)

5. Click next.

6. When prompted, insert the wireless adapter. The location of the driver will be requested. Browse to the location of the install program (typically located on the flash drive) and open the InstallationFiles/Driver/Win2KXP folder.

7. Next, Select the rt73.sys file and click the open button. Then click the ok button.

8. After the installation completes select: No, I will restart my computer later. Click Finish.

Note:

Belkin's software standard resolution is much higher than what is required to run Winboard Embedded. Before setting up the Belkin software, you must reset the screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels. After resizing, the desktop will extend off the screen edge. The embedded touch screen keyboard will be displaced and unavail- able for use. You will need a USB mouse and keyboard. To view the entire area, scroll the screen by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen you need to see.

Getting Started:

1. Open the display properties with your mouse by right clicking an empty area of the screen.

2. Select "Properties" on the pop-up dialog box.

3. From Display Properties select the "Settings" tab. Here you will change the screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels.

4. Click Apply and then select "OK".

5. Next restart the unit by scrolling to the bottom left edge of the screen and clicking "Start". Select the "Turn Off Computer" option.

6. After the unit shuts down, disconnect the power cable and then reconnect it.

7. Allow the unit to boot up Winboard Embedded. Then close Winboard Embedded again, by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner of the window. Do not select the shutdown button. Now you are ready to set up the Belkin Wireless Networking Utility.

Up

Setting Up The Networking Utility:

1. Launch Belkin Wireless Networking Utility by double-clicking the Belkin Wireless Networking Utility icon, if it has not automatically started.

2. Select the "My Connections" tab at the top of the window.

3. Click the "Add" button at the bottom of the window.

4. Next, select the "Advanced" button on the pop-up dialog box.

5. Check "This is a computer-to-computer (adhoc) network; wireless access points are not used".

6. Enter a Name (SSID) in the space at the top of the window. For example - the type of unit plus the serial number of the unit: WE20-4237. Although any name may be used, this is the recommended name designation to help easily identify the unit.

7. Click the Save Button.

8. Now, select the network you have created from the list by checking the Auto-connect box.

9. Click the "Connect" button. The wireless network is ready for remote app connection. Now, it will be ready every time you boot.

10. Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the window to close the Belkin Utility.

Getting Started:

After installation of Belkin software is complete the screen must be returned to the original resolution for Winboard Embedded operation:

1. Open the display properties with your mouse by right clicking an empty area of the screen.

2. Select "Properties" on the pop-up dialog box.

3. From Display Properties select the "Settings" tab. Next click the "Advanced" button.

4. Select the "Adapter" Tab on the pop-up window. Next click the "List All Modes" button.

5. From the "List of Valid Modes" select 640 by 480, True Color (32 bit), 60 Hertz. Click the "OK" Button.

6. Click the Apply button.

7. Now close the dialog windows, by clicking the "X" in the upper right corner of the windows.

8. The system is now ready for use.
