Installation of the Attic Storage System on New and Existing Cabinets:

Note: For Los Angeles, CA installs refer to page 5.

1. Install Attic Storage System as stated in the Assembly Instructions.

2. With Attic securely in place, drill (3/8” or 9.5 mm bit)

through the remaining 4 clearance holes in floor

of Attic all the way through the top of the cabinet underneath.

There should be one clearance hole in

each corner of the Attic floor. (Detail A)

Note: Detail A is shown without the Attic frame and cover

to allow for location clarity only. When completing

these steps the Attic frame and cover will be assembled.

3. Use a plastic or rubber mallet to pound the four screw inserts (#3) from the inside of the cabinet into

the bottom surface of the through the newly drilled hole completed in Step 2.(Detail B)

Anchoring the Attic and Cabinet to the Wall:

1. The location of the Attic/Cabinet bracket (#2) is to be determined as follows:

a. Using the bracket (#2) as a template, place the bracket on the floor of the Attic, 2" side down

against the attic floor and the 5" side against the rear attic frame and about 4-6" in from the

side of the cabinet.

b. Mark the location of the hole against the attic floor and drill (3/8" or 9.5 mm bit) down

through the attic floor into the top of the cabinet.

Note: If the cabinets are existing:

The location of the Attic/Cabinet Bracket (#2) will be governed by the pre-existing location the wall

anchor through the back of the cabinet. The bracket cannot interfere with the existing anchor location.

The location of the bracket should be just to the right or left of the existing anchor location.

5. Using a rubber or plastic mallet, pound two screw inserts (#3) into the newly drilled holes. (Detail D)

6. Position Attic/Cabinet Bracket (#2) on the inside of the cabinet, lining up the slot on the 2" leg with

the location of the drilled hole.

7. Attach the Attic/Cabinet Bracket by inserting machine screw (#4) from the underside of the top panel

and tightening into the screw insert until secure.

8. Anchor cabinet to wall by going through slot located on the 5” leg of the Attic/Cabinet Bracket.

Anchor type to be determined by type of wall: (Detail E)

a. C.M.U. Wall Bracing – Install anchor (X002158) with washer (X000410) going through

Attic/Cabinet Bracket, with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side

against the top of the cabinet.

b. Wood (2” X 6”) Bracing – Install anchor (X002159) with washer (X003127) going through

Attic/Cabinet Bracket, with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side

against the top of the cabinet.

c. Metal Stud Bracing – Install anchor (X002456) with washer (X003127) going through

Attic/Cabinet Bracket, with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side

against the top of the cabinet.

Installation of the Attic Storage System to Acoustic Cabinets:

Due to the length of the threaded rod used for anchoring the AcoustiCabinet to the wall through the wall bracket (255A502), this may need to be cut down to accommodate the Attic Storage System.

Installation of the Attic Storage System to Existing Seismic Cabinets:

1. The location of the Attic/Cabinet Bracket (#2) will be governed by the pre-existing location of the wall anchor through the back of the cabinet. An additional anchor location will need to be used for installations into wood and metal studs. The existing location of the wall anchor can be used for C.M.U. wall installations.

2. Type of wall anchoring:

a. C.M.U. Wall Bracing – Remove the nut and washer located on the threaded rod anchored to the wall. Install the Attic/Cabinet Bracket with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side against the top of the cabinet and the existing threaded rod positioned within the slot on the bracket. Replace the washer and nut onto the threaded rod and tighten until secure.

b. Wood (2” X 6”) Bracing – Locate the Attic/Cabinet Bracket just to the right or left of the existing wall anchor. Install anchor (X002159) with washer (X003127) going through Attic/Cabinet Bracket, with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side against the top of the cabinet.

c. Metal Stud Bracing – Locate the Attic/Cabinet Bracket just to the right or left of the existing wall anchor. Install anchor (X002456) with washer (X003127) going through Attic/Cabinet Bracket, with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side against the top of the cabinet.

3. With Attic/Cabinet in place, drill (3/8” or 9.5 mm bit) up through the hole in the bracket into the top of the cabinet, through the floor of the attic.

4. Use a plastic mallet to pound screw insert (#3) into floor of attic at newly drilled location. 5. Complete attachment of Attic/Cabinet Bracket by inserting machine screw (#4) from the under

side of the top panel and tightening into the screw insert until secure.

New Attic and Cabinet Installations:

1 The location of the Attic/Cabinet Bracket (#2) to be determined as follows:

a. Using the bracket (#2) as a template, place the bracket on the floor of the Attic, 2” side down against the attic floor and the 5” side against the rear attic frame and about 4-6” in from the side of the cabinet.

b. Mark location of hole against the attic floor and drill (3/8” or 9.5 mm bit) down through the attic floor into the top of the cabinet.

2. Use a plastic mallet to pound screw insert (#3) into floor of attic at newly drilled location.

3. Position Attic/Cabinet Bracket on the inside of the cabinet, lining up the slot on the 2” leg with the location of the drilled hole.

4. Attach the Attic/Cabinet Bracket by inserting machine screw (#4) from the underside of the top panel and tightening into the screw insert until secure.

5. Anchor cabinet to wall by going through slot located on the 5” leg of the Attic/Cabinet Bracket. Anchor type to be determined by type of wall:

a. C.M.U. Wall Bracing – Install anchor (X003118) into screen (X003117) and epoxy (RM11652) going through Attic/Cabinet Bracket, with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side against the top of the cabinet.

b. Wood (2” X 6”) Bracing – Install anchor (X002159) with washer (X003127) going through Attic/Cabinet Bracket, with 5” side of bracket against the back of the cabinet and 2” side against the top of the cabinet.
