Worship Notes
If you are tuning in to Cherry Creek,
welcome and thank you for worshiping with us on this Sunday morning. Lyrics for some songs are available at the end of this bulletin.
What is Lent? “Lent” comes from the
Old English word lenct (meaning “spring”), which named the season often associated with this time peri-od. Ash Wednesday begins the sea-son of Lent, a 40-day countdown to Easter, intended to symbolize the 40 -day temptation of Jesus in the wil-derness, recorded in the Gospels (see Matthew 4). There are actually more than 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Easter, but the church calendar doesn’t count Sundays, since all Sundays are now the Lord’s Day, the day of the week we celebrate Christ’s resur-rection.
Furthermore, Lent is a season of preparation as we look and move toward Holy Week (that week symbolizing Jesus’ last week prior to the crucifixion and resurrection, where we celebrate days such as Good Friday and Easter). Tradition-ally, Christians take up practices during Lent which symbolize re-pentance, such as fasting. More important than our works, however, is remembering Jesus’ work on our behalf. Lent is a great period to con-tinually reflect on the fact that Jesus not only died for us, He lived for us. And His perfection and good works is the lens through which God looks at us when we put our faith in Him.

All: Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Valuing Membership. At CCPC, we val-ue membership in our church for a
whole host of reasons, but mostly be-cause it is biblical. Our day and age is
suspicious of membership and authori-ty, and we recognize that a deep com-mitment to Christ and HIs church is
something that is becoming increas-ingly counter-cultural.
Our conceptions of “membership” are often tainted by the types of
membership we find in culture— Costco, country clubs, credit cards, etc. But biblical membership is something totally different. New Members received today in our 10:30 service: Loretta Chang, Don Dearing, Daryl Einarsen, Nathaniel Einarsen, Jenny McInturff, Sean McInturff, Madison McInturff, Abbilynn McInturff, Randy Wampler, Rebekah Wampler, Adam Wampler, Janet Verno
Giving: If you can continue giving your tithes and offerings, please do so. Checks may be mailed to the church; or if you already have an account for online giving, please sign in at the link below.

Prayer for the Week
All-knowing God, we recognize that you know us better than we know ourselves. As you walk with us in our journey to Christian maturity, we know that you are providing us guidance and wisdom. Help us to seek your ways and to be patient in those times when you are correcting us, or guiding us toward a path which we have not considered.
Songs for Worship
Jesus, Lover of My Soul
(Sanctuary Choir)Jesus, Lover of my soul, let me to thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high; Hide me, O my Savior, hide, till the storm of life is past; Safe into the haven guide, O receive my soul at last.
Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee; Let the water and the blood,
From thy wounded side which flowed, Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure. Not the labors of my hands
There is a Fountain Filled with Blood
(vs 1,3,5)There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel's veins, And sinners, plunged beneath that flood, lose all their guilty stains: Lose all their guilty stains, lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood, lose all their guilty stains. Dear dying Lamb, thy precious blood shall never lose its power, Till all the ransomed Church of God be saved, to sin no more: Be saved, to sin no more, be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed Church of God be saved, to sin no more. When this poor lisping, stammering tongue lies silent in the grave, Then in a nobler, sweeter song I'll sing thy power to save:
I'll sing thy power to save, I'll sing thy power to save; Then in a nobler, sweeter song I'll sing thy power to save.
Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, And to the Son, And to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
The King of Love My Shepherd Is
(Sanctuary Choir) The king of love my shepherd isWhose goodness fails me never I nothing lack if I am his And he is mine for ever
And so through all the length of days Your goodness fails me never
Good Shepherd may I sing your praise Within your house for ever
Doxology no. 34
Praise God, From whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, Ye heavenly host: Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Invocation of the Light
Glory to God Who has shown us the light! Glory to God Who has shown us the light! Lead us from darkness to light,
Lead us from sorrow to joy,
Lead us from death into life, Lead us.
My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid rock,
I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, All other ground is sinking sand.
