Welcome to the
center of competence
Siemens Flow Instruments is an innovative competence
center, which develops, manufactures, markets and
services the flowmeters known as SITRANS F.

They meet high standards of accuracy within pro-cess industries including water and waste-water, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, mining, paper, energy, automotive, oil and gas industries. We develop new flowmeters and conti-nuously improve the existing ones. Furthermore, we manufacture and market our flowmeters, as well as assisting in planning, analysis, consulting in specifi-cations and commissioning, as well as running ongoing tests where required. Last but not least, we have a competent service team at our disposal, which en -sures fast and professional after-sales service around the globe.
Siemens Flow Instruments supports its customers’ competitiveness by providing them with staff qualified in measure-ment technology as the need arises. Our headquarters is located at the Indu-strial Park in Nordborg on the island of
Als in Denmark. We also have factories at Stonehouse in England, Hauppauge on Long Island, USA and Dalian in China.

Kim Sand:Home in Denmark after an international posting
”I have worked here for 17 years, and rea-lized from the start that an international posting was possible. I was especially in-terested in marketing, and after several years as product manager I wanted to get closer to the customers, which was possi-ble by obtaining an international posting. And that is precisely the strength of Siemens: It is an international concern with the right ‘global touch’ and financial strength to implement aggressive strate-gies.”

Fulvia Ghirardi:
Moved from Italy to Denmark
”We moved to Denmark when my partner got a job in this part of the world back in 2004. I had heard many good things about Siemens and therefore chose to apply for a job here. I was especially attracted by the idea of working for a company with a strong position in the international market, and the opportunities that could open up. Today I work with finance and controlling for Siemens Flow Instruments' R&D department.”
Jeppe Pedersen:
Employed in Karlsruhe after traineeship
”I thought it sounded incredibly exciting to become a trainee in a global concern, and I have never regretted joining Siemens. Normally, trainees are not assigned to international postings, but I spent eight weeks in the purchasing department in Stonehouse – a really good experience. After my traineeship was completed, my manager drew my attention to the position available at headquarters in Karlsruhe, where I now deal with com-plaint management. That is to say, our regional sales offices can contact me, if for example the delivery time on an order has been extended.”
Mikal Jesper Nielsen:
Internal job rotation with new challenges
”After graduation as an electrical engineer, I saw an advertisement from Siemens Flow Instruments, offering a job with a good variety of work. Later, my manager told me about a new job opportunity in the organization, which I applied for and won. A good example showing that one can always find new challenges at Siemens, in technical work and in project management. I experience a good combi-nation of independence and inspiration from my colleagues.”

It is too short sighted to consider the need for expertise here and now, alone. That is why we collaborate with students and educational institutions in a broad range of projects. We want to influence the future and make room for new gene-rations of innovative professionals. That is why we also work in multiple dis-ciplines, across the traditional boundaries of commerce and the professions. If you are a student, are open to new op-portunities, and wish to work in the development, manufacturing and market -ing of flowmeters, the chance is here. The technologies of electromagnetism, coriolis and ultrasound are the founda -tions of our success. Maintaining that success demands the contribution of individuals with many different compe-tences.
If you are a tertiary student we can offer
• Work experience for student economists, technicians and engineers (e.g. students studying for a Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Science or Engineering) • Thesis or project topics – for students
studying for a Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Science or Engineering, Master of Commerce, or degree in Export Engineering.
• Company-based PhD
Room for new
generations
We collaborate with educational institutions in talent
development. Together we will cater for the coming
generations of innovative specialists.

Development competences
Work with the three types of flowmeters demands people with great insight into a broad range of fields. Right from funda-mental physics, via signal processing to communication with the user:
Henrik Olesen:
Employed at Siemens after a period of work experience
”I was studying IT engineering at the University of Southern Denmark, and discovered the opportunities on offer at Siemens Flow Instruments during a company visit. I participated in a period of six months’ work experience, where I worked in software development using eDDL and C++. That period of work experience was decisive for my job application. I had obtained greater insight into advanced software development than my university course could offer, and that definitely aroused my interest. Now I can work with embedded development and bus communication on a daily basis.”
Torben A. Christensen:
PhD. Student from the University of Southern Denmark
”The opportunity for a company-based PhD arose after five years of study in mechatronics. I spend about half of my time at Siemens Flow Instruments as a member of the research group in the R&D department. The other half of the time, I am in the mathematical research environment at the university. Along the way, I receive support from the university heavyweights in mathematics and physics, and also from an experienced development group specializing in precisely the instrumentation I work with at Siemens.”
