CERTIFICATE TRAINING PROGRAM

 Step 1 - Determine Eligibility

Application eligibility for the Certificate Training Program through Holland College and Collège Acadie is being offered to those who:

 Have successfully completed the 90 Hour Training Program;

 Currently work in a regulated child care centre and plans to remain working in such a setting for the duration of the Certificate Training. Preference will be given to applicants from Early Years Centres, however, those in Private Centres are also encouraged to apply.

 Step 2 - Application for Funding and Application for Program

Funding - Submit the 2 required forms to the ECDA (Provided on pages 2 and 3 or online at http://earlychildhooddevelopment.ca/content/certificate-training-program-2012-must-have-info). - Funding Application Form

- Director's Letter of Confirmation and Agreement

Program - Follow Program Application of applicable College (Provided on Page 4, Collège Acadie and page 5, Holland College).

[Note: Students must receive both program funding and program acceptance to take courses]

 Step 3 - Program and Funding Acceptances Notice

Notifications will be sent on the dates listed below. Please follow any information or directions (re. registration, orientation, etc.) provided by the College within this acceptance.

Collège Acadie - August 10th, 2012 Holland College - August 27th, 2012

 Step 4 - Complete the appropriate paperwork necessary to commence the program

'Student Agreement Contract' (1 form, to be provided after acceptance). You will need to carefully read the terms and conditions put forth and agree to them by completing and signing the contract.

 As the employer of an individual hoping to return to studies, I shall remain connected and in communication with the ECDA of PEI to remain current on information, support and sessions pertaining to the Certificate Training Program. I shall inform all of my employees of these and encourage them to use these resources to support the student employee.

 I recognize that as the applicant's Director/Supervisor I shall be responsible for passing along materials and communicating information pertaining to the Certificate Training Program to them.

Admission Requirements for Collège Acadie Early Childhood Assistant Certificate Program (2012-2014 Blended Offering)

 Basic College application Form - Available online at the following link. Please note that there is NOT an associated application fee. http://collegeacadieipe.ca/frm_admissions.cfm

 A copy of your birth certificate.

 A Police Records Check (Vulnerable Persons) with no findings of guilt.

 Resumé including work and volunteer experience with applicable dates, membership in groups, associations or athletics, awards and distinctions, and any other information about yourself relevant to the program.

 For this offering only, the minimum academic admission requirements are the successful completion of the three ‘entry level’ courses, also referred to as the 90 Hour Training Program.

 In addition to these requirements*, a one question essay will be asked by students to evaluate the knowledge and skills learned from the 90hour training program as well as the level of French language proficiency. A point system will be developed to evaluate each essay.

*The '90 Hour Training' course average and one question essay will be used to determine acceptances if there are more eligible applicants than available seats. Students with an overall average above 80% will be given 2pts Students with an average above 70% will be given 1pt.

Admission Requirements for Holland College Early Childhood Assistant Certificate Program (2012-2014 Blended Offering)

The non-academic admission requirements are:

 Basic College application Form - Available online at the link below. Please note that there is NOT an associated application fee.

 A Police Records Check (Vulnerable Persons) with no findings of guilt.

 Two letters of Reference, one personal and one from an employer/teacher - please find the necessary form online at the link below.

 Current CPR - Basic rescuer Level C and a Standard First Aid certificate from a recognized First Aid/CPR Trainer.

 Resumé including work and volunteer experience with applicable dates, membership in groups, associations or athletics, awards and distinctions, and any other information about yourself relevant to the program.
