A Home Care Placement Agency is defined as an organization that, for a fee, provides referrals to consumers seeking home

care services. A Home Care Placement Agency does not provide any medical or non-medical services in a consumer’s home, either directly or by contract.

When you hire a care provider through a Home Care Placement Agency, you become the employer. As a private employer, you are required to pay Social Security, unemployment and payroll taxes and you could be held liable for any work-related injury that occurs on the job. If you choose to hire privately through a Home Care Placement Agency, it might be in your best interest to consult a lawyer and an accountant to assure that you make proper arrangements for all the obligations and liabilities of being a private employer.

The following agencies in Larimer County have registered with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment as Home Care Placement Agencies.
