(20) 0*+ 1 .#(( Exams will have multiple-choice and short-answer questions. The final exam will be cumulative. Material on the exams will include lecture material and text readings. Although the topics covered will overlap, different things may be emphasized in class than in the book. Therefore, I recommend listening to the lectures. The text is intended to reinforce and supplement material presented in class. That is, for exams all lecture content is fair game. Things mentioned in class ca be on the exams – even if they aren't mentioned in the textbook. Topics mentioned in the textbook but not in class won't be on the exams. Missing an mid-term exam: If you miss one of the two mid-term exams you will need documentation for your reason. To find out what reasons are accepted and what form of documentation is required, please refer to the student calendar. One example, if you are sick you will need a medical note (see UTSC webpages for the form), and you need to bring a physical copy to my office. The form needs to be completed by a medical doctor no later than two days after the exam. A medical note by an accupuncture specialist, reporting that you have a stomach flu, and filled out a week after an exam will not be accepted. If your documentation is OK, two things will happen: (1) I will add questions to the next exam that you will be writing. That is, if you miss mid-term 1 you'll get additional questions on mid-term 2. If you miss mid-term 2 you'll get additional questions on the final exam. The additional questions will cover material from the previous exam. (2) Your grade will be re-calculated based on your grades in the other mid-term and the final exam. Therefore, weights will be recalculated proportionally (mid-term will be 43%, final will be worth 57%). Please notify me through email if you miss both mid-terms. I will then offer a make-up exam that will cover the material of both mid-terms. The format of the make-up exam might differ from that of the usual mid-terms. If you miss the final exam, you are asked to petition to write the test through the Registrar’s office, usually one term later. Difficulties with the course: I want you to do well in the course! Please talk to me if you feel you are having difficulties with the course (or if you have personal issues that might interfere with your performance). The earlier the better. I will try my best (and am happy) to help. Especially, please come before an exam is to be held. Afterwards is too late. Please note, that as per university policy it is not possible to negotiate better grades. (38) interpreting sensations. You might want to think of sensation and perception as two ends. of a continuum. There is no clear dividing line between. sensation and perception. Where sensation ends and perception. begins is difficult to determine. LP 3A Pseudo 4. An Introduction to Sensation & Perception. Although intimately related, sensation and perception play two complimentary but different roles in how we interpret our world. Sensation refers to the process of sensing our environment through touch, taste, sight, sound, and smell. This information is sent to our brains in raw form where perception comes into play. Perception is the way we interpret these sensations and therefore make sense of everything around us..
