This Job Aid provides instruction in the process to display and update a student’s English Learner screen in order to maintain accurate Master Plan Instructional Program and English Language Development (ELD) level data for students. Users with the Office Manager and Categorical

Program Coordinator roles can perform the task. This job aid was created with the Office Manager role for an elementary school user.

Step 1 Log into MiSiS with the following URL:

http://misis.lausd.net/start, from your internet browser, using your single sign-on (SSO) user ID and password.

Step 2 Select the correct user role from the landing page, as required (Example: Office Manager).

Student Search

Step 1a From the Student Search page, enter the student Name. Step 1b Click the Search icon.

Step 2a Locate the student in the search results and click the Name link.

Step 2b Click the icon to collapse the search results and display the Student Page.

English Learner Screens

Step 1a Hover your mouse over Services and the dropdown menu displays. Step 1b Click English Learner to display the English Learner screen.

The English Learner screen displays in a series of twelve expandable/collapsible screens. 1. English Learner Information

2. Instructional Program Information 3. English Language Development 4. Dual Language Program

5. Reclassification Information 6. Parent/Waiver Requests

7. Diagnosis and Placement Inventory (DPI) Information 8. Primary Language (L1) Assessment

9. CELDT Assessment 10. Language Appraisal Team

11. Reclassified Fluent English Proficient (RFEP) Monitoring 12. Long Term English Learner (LTEL) Monitoring

NOTE: Do not use these screens for Pre-Kindergarten students.

NOTE: Follow these steps, ONLY when there has been an entry error. Update the Master Plan Instructional Program (to edit)

Screen 2 – The Instructional Program Information Screen

As Individual records are saved, they will display in the screen below.

Step 1 Click on the Title Bar to expand the screen. View theinformation. Step 2 To add a new record, click + Add new record.

Step 3 Complete the following fields (* =Required Fields):

*Program Placement: select the appropriate Master Plan Instructional program.

*EL Services: Select corresponding EL services.

a. For LEPs in Structured English Immersion and Mainstream English: select SDAIE English Language Development

b. For LEPs, EOs, IFEPs, and RFEPs participating in a Dual Language, Maintenance Bilingual Program, Transitional Bilingual programs: select Primary Language Instruction.

c. For Newcomer (Secondary): select SDAIE English Language Development d. For Newcomer with a Waiver (Secondary): select Primary Language Instruction

Update the Master Plan Instructional Program (to Change the MP Program)

Screen 2 – The Instructional Program Information Screen

As Individual records are saved, they will display in the screen below.

Step 1 Click on the Title Bar to expand the screen. View theinformation. Step 2 Click the Edit pencil to view the record. (Scroll all the way to the right)

Step 3 *End Date: Click on to the End date field. Enter the last day the student participated in Master Plan Instructional Program

Step 4 Click the Save button to retain the information. The screen will collapse. Step 5 To add a new record, click + Add new record.

Step 6 Complete the following fields (* =Required Fields):

*Program Placement: select the appropriate Master Plan Instructional program.

*EL Services: Select corresponding EL services.

a. For LEPs in Structured English Immersion and Mainstream English: select SDAIE English Language Development

*End Date: A default date will populate automatically. Eligible/Participate: Click “Yes

NOTE: The Master Plan Instructional Program must be ended for Reclassified students. Update the Master Plan Instructional Program (Reclassification)

Step 1 Click on the Title Bar to expand the screen. View theinformation. Step 2 Click the Edit pencil to view the record. (Scroll all the way to the right)

Step 3 *End Date: Click on to the End date field. Enter the RECLASSIFICATION date. Step 4 Click the Save button to retain the information.

NOTE: The ELD level must be ended for Reclassified students.

Step 2 Click the Edit pencil to view the record. (Scroll all the way to the right)

Step 3 *End Date: Click on to the End date field. Enter the RECLASSIFICATION date. Step 4 Click the Save button to retain the information.
