New Filter Processing
Performance Improvements and Enhanced Stability JMX Support
Controlling Event Replicator for Adabas Destinations Composite Key Support
RDBMS-Adabas File Synchronization
2.6.1.6 Enhancements Event Replicator Target Adapter 2.6 Release Notes
Multiple Source Support
This version of the Event Replicator Target Adapter allows you to send multiple sources of replicated data to a single target RDBMS or web service. You can now have your RDBMS target or web service collect data from different sources simultaneously.
Multiple Configuration Engine Thread Support
In past releases of the Event Replicator Target Adapter only one configuration engine thread was supported. With this release of the Event Replicator Target Adapter, you can now specify more than one engine thread using the thread parameter of the Threads field on the Engine Configuration panel of the Administration tool. You can use additional threads to improve Event Replicator Target Adapter performance, although it is not necessary to define more than one thread per source of replication data.
For more information about maintaining the configuration engine definition, read Maintaining the Event Replicator Target Adapter Engine Configuration.
webMethods EntireX Compression Settings
This version of the Event Replicator Target Adapter allows you to specify compression settings for the data sent to the Event Replicator Target Adapter from webMethods EntireX sources. In past releases, this setting was hardcoded at 8 (maximum compression). This release allows you to set this yourself. For more information, read Configuring Source Definitions for Event Replicator Target Adapter.
Multiple Target and Web Service Support
Individual Event Replicator subscriptions can still only send data to a single RDBMS target or web service, but multiple Event Replicator subscriptions for the same replicated data allow you to send the same replicated data to multiple RDBMS targets or web services. For complete information about Event Replicator subscriptions, read Definitions Driving Replication
New Administration Tool
This release introduces a new Event Replicator Target Adapter Administration tool to be used to configure your messaging system, relational databases, and web services for Event Replicator Target Adapter. This tool replaces the Tomcat Server Administration tool used in previous releases.
Prior versions of Event Replicator Target Adapter used a tomcat.xml file to store configuration information; this version of Event Replicator Target Adapter uses a context.xml file supported by the Administration tool. For UNIX installations, you should use the new Event Replicator Target Adapter Administration tool in Windows and ftp the context.xml file to the appropriate UNIX location.
Important:
We do not recommend that you alter the context.xml file using any tool except the new Event Replicator Target Adapter Administration tool.
For more information on the use of the new Event Replicator Target Adapter Administration tool, read Event Replicator Target Adapter Administration.
Event Replicator Target Adapter 2.6 Release Notes Multiple Source Support
New Filter Processing
This version of the Event Replicator Target Adapter allows you to define filters to use for Event Replicator Target Adapter processing. Replicated data that match these filters are rejected from Event Replicator Target Adapter processing. For complete information, read Specifying Filter Definitions.
Performance Improvements and Enhanced Stability
A variety of improvements were made in this release to the Event Replicator Target Adapter that improve its performance and enhance its stability. Internal changes in the Event Replicator Target Adapter code provide increased threads for processing. In addition, with the exception of the space required for log files (which varies based on the amount of logging you do), the space requirements for this release are reduced by 25 percent.
Finally, this release greatly improves the stability of the Event Replicator Target Adapter. When problems occur with your RDBMS, the Event Replicator Target Adapter will not shut down as it did in previous releases. Instead, it remains up, although it may close the source definition for the RDBMS that is having problems. Once you resolve the RDBMS problems, you can manually reopen the source definition using the Administration Tool.
JMX Support
This version of the Event Replicator Target Adapter provides exposed Java beans that support JMX and many third-party tools.
Controlling Event Replicator for Adabas Destinations
This version introduces some new batch utilities that you can use to activate, deactivate, open, and close your Event Replicator for Adabas destinations from the Event Replicator Target Adapter. The etbdest utility allows you to control destinations using a webMethods EntireX Broker queue; the mqsdest utility allows you to control destinations using a webSphere MQ queue. For more information, read Controlling Event Replicator for Adabas Destination Definitions from the Event Replicator Target Adapter.
Composite Key Support
This version of the Event Replicator Target Adapter supports composite keys created using the Data Mapping Tool. For more information about composite keys, refer to your Data Mapping Tool documentation.
RDBMS-Adabas File Synchronization
This version of Event Replicator Target Adapter allows you to request that it synchronize the RDBMS table layout with the Adabas file. A new option, Adabas-RDBMS Synchronization Level, has been added to support this functionality. You can specify this option in your target database processing option definitions.
The RDBMS-Adabas file synchronization (activated by this option) is triggered by the use of a new GFB and field table (GFFT) in the subscription you use for replication. Therefore, if you make changes to your Adabas database file or field structure, you must generate a new GFB/GFFT (using the Data Mapping Tool or Adabas Manager’s Event Replicator Administration) and apply it to the appropriate subscription
New Filter Processing Event Replicator Target Adapter 2.6 Release Notes
For more information about this new option, read Creating a New Target Database Option Definition . Note:
If you are using a Sybase ASE database, there are some special configuration steps you must perform before this synchronization will work. For more information, read Installation Considerations for Sybase ASE.
Support Issues
With this version of the Event Replicator Target Adapter, we no longer support the use of Tomcat’s Administration Tool to maintain Event Replicator Target Adapter definitions.
Restrictions and Limitations
The following restrictions and limitations exist in Event Replicator Target Adapter:
Adabas changes to the primary key are not supported by Event Replicator Target Adapter because it requires a cascading update to the RDBMS tables. The Adabas primary key is used to relate the root table with the MU/PE tables in the RDBMS. At this time, most relational databases do not support such cascading updates via SQL commands. Consequently, if you change the primary key in Adabas, the referential integrity of the data in the RDBMS tables will be violated. Support for cascading changes will be implemented in a future release of Event Replicator Target Adapter.
Features Dropped in Future Versions
In future versions, the MU Occurrence and Compatible with Version 2.3 target database options will be dropped. They are still supported in this release.
In addition, support for 32-bit Linux operating systems will be dropped in a future version.

Viewing Software AG Product Documentation under Windows XP SP2
With Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows XP and Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Server 2003, Microsoft introduced a range of powerful new security features that restrict active content that runs locally on your computer. Active content includes ActiveX controls, Java applets, and JavaScript. Software AG’s documentation web pages contain some JavaScript, and the SEARCH, INDEX and CONTENTS capabilities are implemented as Java applets. As a result, when viewing documentation web pages that reside on your PC using Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox under Windows XP SP2, note that active content is blocked. You must explicitly and repeatedly allow active content if you want to make use of the documentation’s full navigation features. Note that this behavior is only observed when reading web pages installed locally on your PC, including those on CD in the PCs CD-ROM drive.
The active content for which Software AG is responsible, that is, the JavaScript code in our HTML documentation pages, will not harm your computers. The risk in using the navigation applets is negligible:
Software AG has received no reports from users concerning any harm caused to a computer by the applets. We therefore suggest that when reading Software AG documentation in a local context, you should allow active content via the Security settings in the browser (with Internet Explorer, usually found under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced).
Full details of alternatives can be found on the home page of the suppliers of the navigation applets:
http://www.phdcc.com/xpsp2.htm.
