Software development and Quality Assurance

Any software project must have a technical leader, who is responsible for all technical decisions made by the team and has enough authority to make them. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an online International Lecture on "Software development and Quality Assurance". The eminent speaker was Professor, Pastor Arguelles Jr. Dean, and College of Computer Studies at University of Perpetual System Dalta, Philippines. The lecture commenced with an explanation of various software development models. Further, he discussed various phases of software development life cycle like Requirement gathering and Analysis, Design, Implementation or coding, Testing, Deployment, Maintenance followed by a brief description of Agile project management which is a methodology commonly used to deliver complex projects due to its adaptiveness.

It emphasizes collaboration, flexibility, continuous improvement, and high quality results.

He also enlightened the importance of Quality assurance in the field of software engineering. Dr. Pradeep Laxkar coordinated the event.

Current Trends in Molecular Biology and Protein Biology

The Faculty of Life Sciences has organized an online National Webinar entitled “Current Trends in Molecular Biology and Protein Biology” on 26 June 2020 for university students, research scholars, faculty members, scientists, and industrialists across the world. Mr.

Deepankar Ramteke, Product Specialist, Thermo Fisher Scientific Gujarat, India was invited as a keynote speaker for the same. Thermo Fisher Scientific is an American provisionary of scientific instrumentation, reagents, and consumables, and software and services to healthcare, life science, and other laboratories in academia, government, and industry (including in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors)

In the webinar, around 300 participants are benefitted by the expert talk out of 463 registered candidates. Apart from various states of India (Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Naidu, West Bengal, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Jharkhand, Chandigarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Assam and Mizoram), participants from 4 different countries have also attended it and found it fruitful.

“Getting Started with Machine Learning using python”

“Globalization is a form of artificial intelligence.” To recognize the scope of artificial intelligence and robotics along with machine learning which has evolved to mimic the pattern-matching that human brains perform, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering department organized an expert lecture on "Introduction to Robotics and its Applications" for the students and the faculty of the University. The eminent speaker was Mr.

Kundan Karma, Senior Software Engineer, Microsoft, USA. The lecture commenced with a real life example of machine learning leading to a discussion on a university question paper based on previous year question papers. Various topics such as introduction to Machine Learning, types of Machine learning algorithms such as supervised learning, unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning were taken into discussion. The speaker succeeded by the hands on session on Machine learning presented a demo of Jupyter notebook. In a hands-on session, the speaker demonstrated linear regression from scratch and enlightened the students about the most common method for fitting a regression line, which is a method of least squares. Webinar on “AATMANIRBHAR BHARAT PACKAGE: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES”

Aiming to lay stress on the importance of opportunity for India to become self-reliant in Coronavirus pandemic, Faculty of Business Administration and Commerce organized a webinar on “Aatmnirbhar Bharat Package: Opportunities and Challenges” on June 6, 2020. The webinar laid stress on various dimensions of Aatmnirbhar Bharat relief package announced by PM Modi on May 12, 2020. With a warm welcome address, Dr. Mukesh Sharma highlighted the key points of the package. The eminent speaker was Prof. Dr. N D Mathur who emphasized the major areas of economy badly carried out due to COVID pandemic. In the initial phase, he underlined the remarkable efforts of the prime ministers since independence until date to make India self-standing along with various dimensions of Aatmnirbhar Bharat Package in which MSME, Jan Dhan, MNREGA, farmer’s policies etc.

Online Virtual Awards Ceremony

The Microbiology Society is a comprehensive society based in India with a worldwide membership based in universities, industry, hospitals, research institutes and schools. It is the largest learned microbiological society in India. Interests of its members include basic and applied aspects of microbiology.

The Faculty of Life Sciences has organized an Online Virtual Awards Ceremony through Google meet in which Microbiological society of India has awarded students of life sciences with the best student award of the department for the academic session 2019-20. The certificate of recognition was presented to selected students based on their overall performance during the academic session. List of selected students are as follow-

Valuation Practices for Real Estate Property

“Real estate is an imperishable asset, ever increasing in value. It is the most solid security that human ingenuity has devised.

Aiming to understand the significance of the valuation industry, the Department of Civil Engineering organized an online workshop on “Valuation Practices for Real Estate Property”

for the students of ITI, Diploma, B. Tech. /B.E. & M. Tech.

The guest speaker was Mr. D.N. Prajapati, a renowned personality in the field of real estate valuation who holds an experience of 7 years, is a proud member of A.M.I.E. & A.I.V. He was enlightened about the emerging role of the Valuation industry in the construction industry with huge demand and is yet to achieve its peak as given less importance in the past. He also discussed the job opportunities in the real estate sector with low competition and high penetration potential. Therefore, the workshop was organized for the students to escalate awareness about the valuation sector. In this productive session, valuation basics were explained in detail with examples of residential buildings and associated government guidelines, norms and their usage.

Machine Learning for Biomedical Data Processing

Aiming to initiate a more systematic and rigorous theoretical investigation of new learning approaches in the field of Machine learning, Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an online National FDP on "Machine Learning for Biomedical Data Processing". The key resource person was Prof. Ram Bilas Pachori, IIT Indore, former visiting professor at Taylor's University. Malaysia.

The lecture commenced with a discussion to develop a machine learning algorithm specific to medical data, which is a need of the hour. Healthcare and biomedical sciences have become data-intensive fields, with a strong need for sophisticated data mining methods to extract the knowledge from the available information. He also discussed current research in this field, which has shown promising results, several research issues that need to be explored like Biomedical image classification, Machine-learning methods applied to biomedical data and deep learning for medical image analysis. A total of 137 faculty members participated.

Dr. Pradeep Laxkar arranged and coordinated the event.

An Art of Concrete Curing

Online learning is rapidly becoming one of the most cost-effective ways to educate the World’s rapidly expanding workforce. Considering online education as the future of education, the Department of Civil Engineering organized an online workshop titled “An Art of Concrete Curing” for the students of ITI, Diploma, B.Tech /B.E. & M.Tech. Mr. Manish Malviya was the guest speaker who is currently working as technical territory service manager at Ultratech Cement Pvt. Ltd. and holds an experience of ten years in the construction industry. He invoked the session by emphasizing on the importance of concrete, which is one of the most used man-made materials used in the world and is the backbone of civil engineering works. As the chemical reactions within concrete mass are exothermic in nature, it becomes necessary to understand the chemistry and ways to compensate for this huge amount of heat. Curing of concrete plays a major role in compensating access heat and reducing shrinkage cracks, which are the result of access heat of hydration. The speaker discussed the modern techniques used for curing and quality control was explained with examples and was shared with the students to enhance their practical knowledge. The lecture was concluded with a tutorial session.

LUCRATIVE GRADUATE COURSES & SELECTION OF THE COLLEGE: POST COVID

“One of the most important areas we can develop as professionals is competence in accessing and sharing knowledge”.

With the objective to elucidate the paradigm of future prospects in diverse courses to the aspiring minds, a webinar on LUCRATIVE GRADUATE COURSES & SELECTION OF THE COLLEGE:

POST COVID was organized by department of Communication Skills on 05 June 2020. The webinar was peculiarly categorized for the students of higher secondary courses. The keynote speaker was Capt. BJ Singh, CEO, and Absolute Training Solutions. The session invoked a bilateral conversation with the queries put forward by the students related to the upcoming likelihood of jobs and miscellaneous courses. After the reciprocal colloquy, our speaker highlighted the role of education, job market and economy in pandemic times. He enlightened the students about the optimistic approach towards career in post COVID times.

He delivered an online presentation on the beneficial & professional courses like Tourism, Fashion, Journalism, Management, Life sciences, Ayurveda, Pharmacy and Engineering offered by Mandsaur University and expounded the entire expectations of the students to choose their alma mater with reference to green zone areas, social distancing classrooms, labs & canteens, academic luminaries keeping in mind COVID’s prolonged stay in our lives.

He effaced all the fallacies related to market and job prospectus, which are presented in a state of paralysis on unavailing social sites. A total of 76 students registered in the webinar from various schools across Mandsaur region. 60 students were actively marked present during the webinar.

“Career & Scope (in Covid-19): Advancement in Industrial Automation” In Association with Vision Automation solutions, Jaipur

In these COVID circumstances due to impromptu closure, the biggest benefactors and the blessings in disguise are the online learning platforms. Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has utilized such a platform to organize an Industry Webinar for the Students and Faculty members on “Career & Scope (in Covid-19): Advancement in Industrial Automation” in Association with Vision Automation Solutions, Jaipur on June 16, 2020. The major intention lies in exposing the idea of understanding how today is manufacturers in numerous industries are gaining rapid increases in productivity by taking advantage of automation technologies.

The eminent speakers, Mr. Bhawani Singh Shekhawat & Ms. Dolly Sharma (TOT & CSP Certified Engineer) explained the role of automation in industries for its development, which primarily starts with the introduction to automation in industries, impact of automation and current emphasis of developed automation in industries followed by a brief description of

PLC. The speakers mentioned about the main tools of automation, which are Ladder logic Simulator, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and the advantages and disadvantages about the development in industrial automation. The recent developments in industrial automation socially and economically were also discussed. Out of 232 registrations, approx. 100 participants attended the webinar from various states Telangana, UP, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and MP. Startup Ecosystem and Entrepreneurship opportunity

Starting a company extracts so much energy and conviction that not having a clear-cut goal and meaningful mission can hamper your success.

Aiming to explore the motive of startup initiation and Entrepreneurship policy, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a webinar on “Startup Ecosystem and Entrepreneurship opportunity” on June 7, 2020. The resource person, Mr. Sachin Nandwana, Co-founder & Director-Big Haat, Alumni, and MIT Mandsaur took up the session mentioning the necessary bullets to startup any idea. Further, he shared his strenuous journey of obstacles from academician to researcher and finally emerging as an entrepreneur. It was

followed by an explanation of the detailed process of starting a business. He also demonstrated a business plan, financial and other required resources, and responsibility for its success or failure. He enlightened that entrepreneurship operates within an entrepreneurship ecosystem, which includes government programs and services that support entrepreneurs, not-for-profit entrepreneurship resources, entrepreneurship education and training and financing (loans, venture capital, and grants). Out of 416 registration, 145 participants attended webinar from various states Telangana, UP, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Odisha, Gujrat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab and MP. Dr. Manish Jain coordinated the event.

Online National Webinar on “Epidemiology and Management of Phythopthora Diseases in Citrus”

To address the conducive issue in the field of citriculture and to know the development in the field of citrus pathology such as epidemiology and management of deadly Phythopthora diseases in Citrus, the online national webinar was organized by Faculty of Life Sciences through Google Meet platform for the university students, research scholar, faculty members, scientists, and industrialist across the world on 07th June, 2020. The resource person of the webinar was Dr. R. M. Gade, Associate Dean, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV), Akola, and Maharashtra, India. During the session, Dr. R. M. Gade gave

detailed explanations on citrus production, productivity, and importance of citrus fruits. He explained the epidemiology of different Phytophthora diseases such as damping off, root rot, brown rot, and how he carried out the novel and unique research along with IIT Mumbai and Hyderabad. He also briefed about the chemical and biological control of the most devastating Phytophthora diseases of citrus. He also discussed the recommendation and manual developed for the management and rejuvenation of citrus orchards. He also discussed future perspectives in the field of research of citrus, an eminent crop in today’s era. 130 participants from 4 different countries including America, Australia, China, Afghanistan and 13 different states of India including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, etc. participated actively in the webinar.

Fashion Industry and Role of Budding Designers to make India Self-Reliant after Pandemic

From mobility and flexibility to professional experiences, online education has various advantages. Aiming to train students for the solid knowledge of the fashion industry, Department of Fashion Design organized a webinar on “Fashion Industry and Role of Budding Designers to make India Self-Reliant after Pandemic”. The webinar was scheduled for the future designers to enable them to forge a vision of this wide-reaching and

specialized industry, of the managerial functioning of businesses and to develop their creativity and their experience of the sector and to be aware of the working conditions in fashion industry post pandemic.

The key resource person was Ms. Ishita Kapoor, an Assistant Designer at Manish Malhotra. With an interactive and enlightening approach, she began the session detailing her fashion career and notified that the fashion industry has negatively affected by the coronavirus outbreak on every imaginable level; production has ceased, retailers have closed, demand has plummeted.

However, as said, “If Winter comes, can spring be far behind”. She laid down the positive hemispheres of the industry and clarified that the industry will take some time before it bounces back. However, in the meantime, artificial intelligence will make a foray into the fashion world and newcomers need to update themselves with the new technology.

INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS FROM MANAGEMENT STUDENTS

Aiming to turn massive challenges into a meaningful change, Faculty of Business Administration and Commerce organized an online expert talk on Industry Expectations from management students on May 31, 2020. The guest speaker was Mr. Kunal Baswani, Deputy Manager, Future Mobility, TVS Motors, and Bengaluru. The key intent was to deliver the insights of industry expectations, to understand the deep changes needed in the organization in the current and upcoming scenario. The speaker highlighted various soft &

technical skills to be adapted by the management students to accelerate their proficiency to crack interviews along with the scope of various organizational sectors for job prospects.

In the end, students raised their queries regarding skills sets, additional certification courses to be achieved, and success mantra in career etc., which were profoundly answered by the speaker. Overall, the session was synergistic.

With the aim of understanding the construction industry, the Department of Civil Engineering organized an online workshop titled “Concrete Admixture a Key Ingredient for concrete” for the students of ITI, Diploma, B.Tech. /B.E. & M.Tech. The resource person was Mr. Nikhil Joshi, celebrated alumni of Mandsaur Institute of Technology who has previously worked with various admixture manufacturing and sales firms in India. He explained that the construction industry due to lack of space is moving forward looking to grow vertically instead of horizontal expansion of which high sky skippers are prime examples to provide affordable accommodation.

Further, he also discussed that this growth requires advanced material and techniques to support construction activities and admixtures are the ones being highly recommended due to the various advantages they provide during construction.

Career talk on “Getting ready for New Normal Tourism & Hospitality Industry”

An online guest lecture was organized on the 11th June 2020. It was on the topic “Getting ready for New Normal Tourism & Hospitality Industry”. The lecture was given by Mr. Utkarsh Shrivastav who is Regional Academic Coordinator in Pratham Education Foundation based in Bhopal. He started the talk with the basic information about the hotel industry. He talked about the various departments of the hotel industry. He also explained the students about various alternative job prospects after a degree in hospitality. He talked in detail about a career in event management, career on cruise and others like spa, gym, restaurants, wedding planner etc. He told the students about various points to focus on like personality development, academic knowledge as well as command over language. He shared some videos about how the hotel industry intends to manage its operations after the corona effects.
