Orientation Week (students)

International Relations Office together with International Student Club organizes so-called Orientation week for international students in order to help them find their feet in the new environment. This event takes place usualy the week before the beginning of teaching part of the semester. Students are provided with useful information about their stay, they are shown round the University Campus in Brno and they meet other Erasmus students. Orientation week usually includes short course of czech language, all-day trip, visit of MENDELU Botanical Garden and Arboretum etc.

The fee for the whole orientation week is 800 CZK (approx. 32 Euro).

Accommodation (students)

Every foreign student who arrives to study at the Mendel University in Brno is provided with accommodation at MENDELU halls of residence. It depends on students if they use this opportunity. The great majority of international students stay at Jan Amos Komenský halls of residence (Address: Kohoutova 3-11, 61300, Brno - Štefánikova čtvrť), which offer

accomodation for 1745 students in double rooms and rooms for three with internet, toilet, shower bath and small kitchen. The accomodation here costs about 2500 CZK per month. Halls of residence include four buildings and a canteen. They are situated just two tram stops from the university. There is a car park, sports ground and an in-door swimming pool near the dormitory. The transport connection with the centre is very good, (about 15 minutes). For the period of accommodation each student has to pay a deposit of 2000 CZK. This deposit is intended for payment of any possible damage that might be caused by student and normally is returned after checking out of the dormitory at the end of student's stay.
