Azize Akcayoglu is currently working as an Associate Professor in Mersin University, Turkey. She received her B.Sc, M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cukurova University in 1994, Mersin University in 1998 and Cukurova University in 2004, respectively. Akcayoglu’s research focuses on experimental fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer specializing on laminar and turbulent steady and unsteady flows and convective heat transfer. Past research activities include enhancement of heat transfer and energy efficiency in heat exchangers and in non-circular ducts, dense gas dispersion, renewable energy applications, greenhouse heating, waste heat recovery using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) techniques. Current research projects deal with; efficient internal cooling of gas turbine blades, cooling of electronics in nanoscale, optimum thermohydraulic performance of vortex generators, and an exoskeleton robot design used for rehabilitation of upper limbs. She established Numerical Modeling (Computational Fluid Dynamics-CFD) Laboratory in Faculty of Technology, Mersin University, in 2012. She has been teaching general and advanced mechanical engineering courses including fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, internal combustion engines, heat and mass transfer, mechanical design, CAD/CAM, technical and computer aided drawing, occupational safety and risk, quality improvement, etc. in undergraduate and graduate levels since 1995.
