Summary of November 17

th

Announcement

NComputing and Microsoft signed an agreement to:

Collaborate long-term on multiuser solutions running on

Microsoft Windows Server OSes

Cooperate on sales and marketing of multiuser systems

(initially, for education market)

NComputing announced that it will support Microsoft’s

upcoming Windows MultiPoint Server 2010 operating system

with its new USB virtual desktops (U170) and vSpace software

(4)

Why is this GREAT for NComputing and its Partners?

1.

Validation:

This validates our solution and vision of

expanding access to computing

2.

Licensing Overview

In general:

Standard Microsoft licensing applies to NComputing systems

For multiuser environments:

When a single OS is shared, Microsoft Server licensing applies

For single user environments:

Microsoft Client operating system licensing applies

1:1 VDI

Display systems & multi-monitor

Remote access from one or more locations

Customers are still responsible for their licensing and

WS CAL = Windows Server Client Access License

RDS CAL = Remote Destkop Services Client Access License

*The number of WS CALs or RDS CALs can be based on either the

number of users or the number of access devices. It’s easiest to

just use “Device” WS CALs and “Device” RDS CALs for most

NComputing environments.

If the host system has an end user running on it, then it also needs a WS CAL and RDS CAL (not needed if access is just for

administrator) WS CAL RDS CAL WS CAL RDS CAL WS CAL RDS CAL WS CAL RDS CAL WS CAL RDS CAL

Microsoft Operating Systems Supported by NComputing

for Multiuser Environments

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-bit)*

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)*

Microsoft Windows MultiPoint Server 2010 for

U170 (targeted for Q1’10)

* NComputing also supports multiuser environments running under Windows XP

under certain conditions defined in the NComputing EULA as follows:

Microsoft Windows Server to Windows XP License Rights. If you have licensed the appropriate number of Windows Server operating system and associated Client Access Licenses for simultaneous access by multiple users to the Licensed Computer, you may install and run the Software on a separately licensed Windows XP Client operating system for simultaneous access by multiple users in lieu of the Windows Server operating system. You may only install and use either the Windows Server operating system software or the Windows XP Client operating system software but not both. This paragraph provides supplemental rights to, and does not limit your existing rights and obligations under, applicable Microsoft Software License Agreements or EULAs. Microsoft does not provide any support for the Software or for the Windows XP Client operating system in this

Coming: Microsoft Windows MultiPoint Server 2010

Microsoft is introducing a new operating system

specifically for multiuser environments in 2010

It has a simplified licensing model and lower costs than

standard server SKUs

It is based on Microsoft Server 2008 R2 and delivers an

end user experience that is like Windows 7

NComputing’s first product to support WMS will be the

Single User Environments - 1:1 VDI

In 1:1 VDI configurations where a user is

connecting to their own VM, vSpace can be run

in client operating systems including:

Windows XP

Windows Vista

Windows 7

Enterprise Centralized Desktop (VECD) licensing

Single User Environments

-Remote Access & Multi-display

There are several other use cases where client

operating systems can be used with NComputing

systems

In each case, only a single user accesses the

operating system at a time

For these environments, NComputing supports:
