As a result of this, we are able to offer high-level training courses globally on a variety of subjects. Held all across the UK, we run a minimum of two workshops a month.
These courses range from TTA for canine cruciate disease, RidgeStopTM for Patella Luxation, our new introduction to orthopaedics to the 3 day spinal surgery. Our courses which are either a half or full day are a balance of theory and practical and are open to all veterinary surgeons and general practitioners regardless of level or experience. Our courses even allow you to take home the sawbones you’ve been practising on free of charge as well as any implants used on them.
We take our education very seriously and once the course finishes, the support we offer doesn’t. Our sales and technical team are available to answer questions and offer advice whenever needed.

Malcolm Ness
BVetMed, CertSAO, DipECVS, FRCVS and European Specialist in Surgery
Malcolm Ness is recognised globally as a specialist in Small Animal Surgery by RCVS and ECVS. With hundreds of presentations made across the globe as an invited speaker, Dr Ness also has; over 20 first author papers in veterinary peer reviewed journals, commissioned editorials and numerous commissioned articles in open access veterinary and lay magazines and periodicals. His clinical interest include most aspects of orthopaedic and spinal surgery, and Dr Ness is actively engaged in the research and development of novel implants and orthopaedic surgical techniques.
Scott Rutherford
BVMS, CertSAS, DipECVS, MRCVS, RCVS and European Specialist in Small Surgery
After graduating from Glasgow University in 2001, Scott spent six years in general practice before moving to Croft Veterinary Hospital in Northumberland in 2007 where he completed an ECVS residency in Small Animal Surgery in 2012 which included extensive training in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and neurosurgery. Scott became a European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Surgery in 2013 and an RCVS Specialist in 2014. He spent two years at North Downs Specialist Referrals before moving to Willows Referral Services in March 2015.
Sean Kennedy
DVM, DACVSDr. Kennedy obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in animal science from the University of New Hampshire and graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. While at Tufts he was inducted into the Phi Zeta National Honour Society. He is a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). His areas of special interest include oncologic, reconstructive surgery, cruciate ligament repair, and trauma surgery. He is a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), the Veterinary Orthopedic Society (VOS), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).
Dr Karl Kraus
DVM, MS (surg), DACVC, DABVP
Dr Kraus is Chief of Small Animal Surgery at Lloyd Veterinary Medical Centre at Iowa State University and diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1985, completed residency training at University of Missouri-Columbia in 1989 and was professor of surgery at Tufts University from 1989 to 2007. He also held a joint appointment at Harvard University where he helped develop neurosurgical procedures on humans at Brigham and Women’s Hospital from 1989 to 1998. His major areas of interest include fracture repair, external fixation, ACL repair, spinal stabilisation, and neurosurgery.
Tommy Hargittai
DVM, MRCVSTommy graduated in 1994 at the University of Veterinary Science in Budapest, Hungary, after which he stayed on for another year of internship at the University Hospital. Following that he moved back home to Israel and started work at a private small animal practice and a year later he opened up his own small animal clinic there, which he developed to become one of the largest in his area.
Peter Early
DVM, ACVIMDr. Early is a graduate of the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine. He spent two years at Cornell University, where he first completed a small animal rotating internship, followed by a second year as a staff veterinarian. He completed a Neurology/Neurosurgery residency at North Carolina State University and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He presently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in Neurology and Neurosurgery at NCSU and provides regular locum work at multiple university and specialty hospitals throughout the country. Dr. Early’s special interests include neurosurgery, specifically decompression and stabilization techniques.
Dr. Oliver Harms
Oliver studied at Hannover University where he obtained his PhD at the clinic for small animals and since 2009 he has been chief resident for small animal surgery at the Tierklinik Lüneburg in Hannover. For the last few years he has been lecturing in TPLO, TTA and arthroscopy. He is also an associate of computer tomography for the DGK and DVG.
Michael Weh
DVM, DACVS, Specialist, Board Certified in Veterinary Surgery
Dr. Weh has a particular interest in neurosurgery and orthopaedics, especially spinal stabilization, fracture repair, and treatment of developmental orthopaedic diseases of the hip, stifle, and elbow. Dr. Weh is active in research and publication in the field of veterinary neurosurgery and orthopaedics. His primary research interests are cell-based strategies for enhancing bone healing, design and testing of novel orthopaedic implants, and spinal stabilization techniques.

Course Content
The Modified Maquet Procedure (MMP) is an evolution of the TTA procedure for treatment of lameness due to cranial cruciate failure.
The course is in two parts: a lecture based introduction followed by a practical session using synthetic bone models of the stifle, animations and video support material will also be used. The development of the technique, implants and associated instrumentation will be described and a detailed review of surgical technique and clinical outcomes will cover all aspects of MMP.

Course Content
This simple, affordable alternative to sulcoplasty surgery that can be used alone, as the sole treatment for patella luxation, or as an adjunct to re-alignment operations. The course is in two parts: a lecture based overview of the pathogenesis and treatment selection in patella luxation and a review of current surgical treatment options. This will be followed by an introduction to RidgeStop™, its application and case presentations, before a practical session where delegates will learn to use the RidgeStop™ instrumentation and implants on a synthetic bone model.

Course Content
The SOP™ is a locking plate system for use in veterinary orthopaedics. Locking plates are powerful and versatile implants but the mechanics and methods of application are significantly different from conventional plate systems. The course will cover locking plate mechanics, case selection, methods of application as well as modes of failure and a review of the extensive published literature on the SOP™ system.

Course Content
This course covers a variety of topics surrounding fracture repairs for internal and external fixation systems. Covering topics such as screws, plates, fracture diagnosis, and repair as well as bone healing, this varied course offers a perfect introduction into veterinary orthopaedics.
This introductory 1 day workshop is ideal for surgeons with little or no experience in using plates and screws and combines a morning of theory and an afternoon of practical, applying the methods learned in the morning to a variety of bone models. By the end of the day, you will have a clear understanding of the principles and practicalities of internal and external fixation for fracture management and what equipment you will need to introduce orthopaedic surgery to your practise.

This three day conference will focus on advanced neurosurgical procedures of the cervical and thoracolumbar spine. It will consist of lectures including instrumentation, anaesthetic protocols, triage and step-by-step tricks and tips of six most common spinal procedures – T-L laminectomy, cervical slot decompression, spinal fracture stabilisation, atlantoaxial stabilisation, L7 – S1 decompression and stabilisation. Attendees will choose and perform three laboratories from five offered. Fresh cadavers will be available for all laboratories. The SOP™ locking plate system will be used for stabilisations. The attendees should already have basic knowledge of these surgical conditions, and basic surgical proficiency.
