Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them.

All stand as the priest enters the sanctuary. He begins with the Sign of the Cross and then greets the gathered assembly.

The Lord be with you.

People:

And with your spirit.

The priest then sprinkles holy water as a reminder that in the waters of baptism

the faithful die with Christ and rise with him to new life.

We do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, about those who have

fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if

we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with

him those who have fallen asleep. Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the

Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will surely

not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself, with a word of

command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come

down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive,

who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord

in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, console one another

with these words.

6 It is proper to kneel during the Eucharistic Prayer when bread and wine become

the Body and Blood of Christ. However, if you are unable to kneel on the floor

then standing is preferred to sitting.

Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Only baptized, practicing Catholics in a state of grace are permitted to receive

communion all others may remain in your pews during the communion

procession. We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the

Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We pray that our common baptism and the

action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer to one another and

begin to dispel the sad divisions that separate us.
