• By running PTOS on your server, the database program (SQL Express) uses 2 GB RAM • Storage of documents (patient notes, scanned

documents, etc) may require a larger capacity hard drive

• If using Terminal Services, a Terminal server may be required based on the number of users or locations

PTOS Web-Based Documentation

Supported Web-Based Documentation Operating Systems

Operating System Notes

Operating System Notes

Home Editions of Windows PTOS does not support any Home Edition Operating System Windows 8 • PTOS 5.6 supports Windows 8 as a Workstation

• PTOS 6.0 and above supports Windows 8 as either Server or Workstation

Windows Vista Vista Ultimate 32 and 64 bit editions were tested. All other Vista systems were tested in only 32 bit only.

User Account Controls The installation of PTOS might require the user account controls to be turned off. If your system has user account controls, please turn off before installing the PTOS software. Watermark in PTOS

Windows-based Documentation

The watermark that appears on closed notes in the PTOS documentation doesn’t appear on any 64 bit operating system. This is a limitation of Amyuni and 64 bit systems.

Windows User Permissions Windows users must have local administrative rights to install PTOS on a server or workstations

XCharge and OpenEdge By July 1, 2016 computers are required to be on either: • Windows 7 or higher

• Server 2008 or higher

Internet Explorer 11 • IE 11 is not compatible with Windows-based Documentation.

• Systems that come pre-installed with IE 11 typically cannot be downgraded (e.g., Win 8, Server 2012, etc.)

Additional Recommendations

Third Party Integration Requirements

• Connectivity to POP3 email system or exchange server is required for certain advanced functionality in PTOS.

• Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2000 or higher is required to export data to Microsoft Office Excel or Microsoft Office Word.

• A DSL or faster internet connection is required for email services and product updates.

Remote Locations/Multiple Sites

PTOS Licensing

Terminal Services

To utilize remote connectivity, clients must have the proper Network Version and Licensing of PTOS in order to ensure data integrity across the network connection. Consult with a PTOS Sales

Representative to ensure you have proper licensing.

• Terminal Services is required for remote access from a location other than where the database is housed

• For Remote Desktop (Terminal Services) connections in any capacity (thin clients, remote locations or in-house connections), a Dedicated Terminal Server should be implemented rather than using the Data server.

• PTOS Support Specialists do not assist in the set up of terminal services; this is something that the office hardware technician must address. When using Terminal Services, your hardware tech might need to increase the recommended RAM depending on the # of connections.

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

PTOS does not recommend utilizing a VPN with PTOS. A VPN connects the components and resources of one network with another network, laptop, or wireless device over the internet. Remote users are able to connect to the Main office’s LAN and access shared resources, applications, and documents through the internet or any IP network. This method is known to negatively impact performance within PTOS and is therefore not recommended or supported.

Anti-Virus Software To be supported by a hardware provider

Spyware Windows Defender or Malware Bytes Anti-Malware

Firewall Hardware Firewall; We do not recommend 3rd Party Software

Internet Browser Internet Explorer 10 & 11, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari Backup Solution We recommend PattLock Online Backup Solution

Internet Required for email/efax capabilities and receiving PTOS updates Battery Backups Industry Standard

Printers We have found that PCL5 and 5e printer drivers yield the best printing results inside of PTOS. At this time we do not have a recommended printer for preprinted insurance forms

Wireless Networks

Many offices use wireless networks to access PTOS from both inside and outside their clinics and for using PTOS web-based documentation. Wireless networks vary in terms of speed, coverage, and reliability. It is not uncommon for wireless networks to disconnect or lose a signal. When this occurs, it is possible for some work in process to be lost. When accessing PTOS via a wireless connection, it is the office’s responsibility for resolving network connectivity issues and ensuring signal strength is optimal for users.

PattLock

PattLock Edge Drive

We recommend PattLock for online backup solutions.

A high speed internet connection is required for use with PattLock.

PattLock also requires the use of a Patterson external hard drive (Edge Drive) for local backups. For more information on this solution, please contact your Sales Team at 800-824-4305 .

Your hardware technician is responsible for maintaining/installing all hardware devices, setting

up all network connections and setting up external backups for proper data security. Please

consult with your hardware representative in implementing the best solution for your office.
