Sydney Metro is leading Australia’s biggest public transport infrastructure program, developing and delivering a

new world-class metro railway system for Sydney.

As a NSW Government statutory authority, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing and delivering

metro railways, and managing their operations. Sydney Metro also leads the development of vibrant station

precincts to meet customer and community needs, transforming the way Sydney travels and helping shape the

future of Australia’s largest city.

Primary purpose of the role

The primary purpose of the role is to provide a range of financial and management reporting services to support

high standards across financial, budget and funding matters. The role will also have additional responsibility of

providing finance business partnering activities to an allocated functional group to assist Finance Business

Partners in ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationship management across the breadth of the organisation.

The role works collaboratively across internal stakeholders including involvement in reporting of finances and

monitoring of financial information.

Key accountabilities

 Live the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the

organisation and customers

 Provide support to Finance Business Partners by undertaking business partnering activities for an

allocated group, including the analysis, explanation and presentation of the group’s financial

performance to the Executive Director and Principal Manager

 Liaise regularly with the Management Reporting Team to assist the development of high quality

management reporting packs and enhance understanding, identify trends and resolve issues

 Support the analysis of financial performance, budgets, forecasts, forward estimates and other financial

and performance metrics to provide input to the consolidated Delivery Management Budget for Sydney

Metro.

 Participate and support Sydney Metro Budget setting activities and provide advice as required to

ensure budget principles are well understood

 Provide support on a range of financial and performance issues and processes to support them in

development of business cases, resolution of issues, understanding of processes and analysis of

performance

 Provide finance support on key financial systems, primarily SAP to enable Divisions to effectively use

the systems to continually improve data quality and reporting.

Role dimensions

Decision making

The role operates with autonomy within the requirements of the agreed work plan and establishes operational

priorities in consultation with the Manager. The position holder is expected to deliver assigned tasks on time

and at or below budget and is fully accountable for the quality, integrity and accuracy of expert advice provided

The role reports to the Senior Manager, Management Accounting.

Key Experience and Knowledge

Extensive knowledge and experience working with relevant financial/accounting programs (SAP)

Demonstrated experience in complex finance and business analysis with advanced computer literacy including

SAP and Advanced Excel
