Please note that AUC does not accept cash sent by mail. Egyptian students with dual nationality who choose to join the university as non-Egyptian students because of the cut-off score will pay in U.S. dollars according to the non-Egyptian tuition fees and will not be permitted under any condition to pay in Egyptian pounds according to the Egyptian tuition fees throughout their course of study at AUC.The student and parent or legal guardian hereby declare that the student will comply with all university policies including the university’s principles of academic and personal integrity.

MAJOR DECLARATION INSTRUCTIONS

Most students who are admitted to AUC will enter the university as undeclared freshmen.This means that regardless of the major they hope to pursue while at AUC, they will not be permitted to apply for their preferred major until the second semester of their freshman year at the earliest. Moreover, most students will not be formally accepted into their preferred major until the end of their freshman year at the earliest.This is true for students intending to major in non-science majors.

Only AUC’s engineering and science programs will accept students into their majors before classes begin. Please see the information below to complete the relevant section on the application form:

If you are interested in majoring in engineering or the sciences, you must complete the questions on page two of the application form.

n

If you are interested in non-science majors, you should complete the questions on page two of the application form.

n

If you are not sure what major you prefer, you should simply write undeclared in the space provided.

It is important to note that not all students will be accepted into their preferred majors.A student who may want to major in a particular discipline is not guaranteed that she or he will be accepted into this major.

There are several reasons for this, including that many of AUC’s majors have strict qualifications that not all students can meet. In addition, other majors have a limited number of places available for each new class entering the university, and sometimes the number of students seeking places in these majors exceeds the number of places available. In such cases, all incoming students will have exactly the same opportunity to earn one of those limited spaces.

Each major has specific criteria of acceptance that interested students must meet, and most of these criteria are related to the courses that incoming students take during their freshmen year.The better the students perform in these courses, the better their chances of being accepted into their preferred majors.

Admission to AUC is very competitive, and each application is carefully considered. To increase your chances of being accepted, please apply early, since acceptance is granted on an ongoing basis to highly qualified applicants based on the availability of places.

The university’s most qualified candidates have earned excellent grades in their courses. When determining admission, the university considers a combination of factors including academic program, grades and test scores, as well as diversified background, and participation in extracurricular activities. The vast majority of those applying to AUC are capable of succeeding scholastically at the university. Many more academically qualified students apply for admission than there is room available. The university’s task is not simply to select those who are qualified, but to identify those who have distinguished themselves. In addition, AUC considers the personal qualities of applicants — how well they have taken advantage of available resources, whether they have faced and withstood unusual adversity, and the extent to which they show promise as a contributing member of the AUC community. The university also, considers applicants’ personal achievements outside the classroom as demonstrated by sustained participation, commitment, leadership in school and community activities.

Applications submitted beyond the deadline dates will be wait-listed and may be considered, pending space availability only.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

nMake sure to follow up with the admissions office on the day the results of all certificates are released in order to meet the deadlines for submitting official certificates and receiving the letter of acceptance to AUC.

nMake sure to adhere to deadlines when collecting your letter of acceptance and paying your tuition in order to avoid termination of your acceptance.

nThose who are not admitted for the fall semester, but wish to renew their application for the spring semester must go to the Student Service Center to renew their application form for the spring semester prior to October 15.
