Justification:
1. The credentialing body for the psychiatric nurse practitioner concentration in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program has changed the name of their certification from “Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner” certification to “Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner” concentration. Therefore, we are requesting removing the “Family” from the practicum and seminar courses in this concentration.
2. It has been determined that additional time evaluating clinical decision making skills specific to psychiatric cases is needed for the psychiatric nurse practitioner students. Therefore, we are requesting that an additional credit be added to each psychiatric nurse practitioner seminar to allow for this discussion and better prepare students to sit for certification and practice upon graduation.
