studYing at cBs

CBS offers a comprehensive range of academic degrees in business economics and modern languages, among them a broad selection of full-time programmes at the three levels: 3-year bachelor, 2-year master, and a 3-year PhD. In addition to general degree programmes, one of CBS’ specialties is the selection of integrated programmes that combine business economics and modern languages with other areas such as psychology, communication, IT, management science, philosophy, area studies, sociology, and law. In this way, CBS students are equipped with professional, interdisciplin-ary competences.

ExECUTIVE EDUCATION

CBS is the leading provider of research-based executive education in Denmark. A wide range of programmes and courses are offered both for the private and public sector, and more than 4,000 students attend our programmes every year. The selection of programmes ranges from 4-year diploma programmes, flexible and 2-year executive master programmes to short courses. Most of our programmes are part-time; however, we offer a full-time MBA ranked as one of the best in Europe and our Blue MBA has a global reputation. CBS is the largest provider of diploma programmes in Denmark offering programmes within finance, accounting, organisation, supply chain management, etc.

Executive education at CBS is an offer for people who want to enhance their career

op-portunities and are looking for an interesting and challenging learning environment. All executive master programmes have close connections with the public and private sec-tor, not only through their students, but also through advisory boards, mentoring schemes, and guest speakers.

INTERNATIONAL pERSpECTIVES AND

OppORTUNITIES

CBS’ dedicated network and exchange agree-ments with more than 360 business schools and universities worldwide bring a large number of international students from our partner universities into the lecture halls and make it possible for our students to study abroad, gain new insights and broaden their perspective. In order to bring in relevant experience and to support the international focus throughout our programmes, many of the professors at CBS come from abroad. Furthermore, the curricula embrace international perspectives, and all classes in the international programmes are taught in English – except for the specific area studies, which are taught in their respective languages.

TEACHING pHILOSOpHY

The teaching and learning processes in and outside the lecture halls differ from business schools in some other countries, and CBS students must be prepared to take part in project group work. The purpose of this learning pro-cess is to develop and consolidate the students’

team working skills and their ability to function in groups, as well as their ability to form critical and independent opinions. Another aspect of the CBS teaching philosophy is to encourage students to take frequent and active part in class discussions on any given subject. This also means that the students should be prepared to present case studies to their fellow students.

ReseaRch at cBs

Using traditional fields within business eco-nomics and languages as a starting point, CBS gives very high priority to cross-disciplinary and problem-oriented approaches, making so-ciology, psychology, anthropology, politology, law, philosophy and intercultural understanding important areas of CBS’ academic profile. CBS’ research profile covers a wide range of subjects within the social sciences and the humanities. At CBS, a broad academic scope is essential to challenge habitual thinking and conventional patterns of business administra-tion and language.

CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION

Creativity and innovation characterise CBS’ approach to both existing and new subject areas and are necessary for meeting the demands placed on universities by the knowledge society and globalisation. This is why CBS strives to maintain a strong international platform by means of international publications, leader-ship of academic networks, editorial activities, conference hosting and PhD collaboration. Furthermore, close cooperation with the business community at regional, national and international level is extremely important for CBS to put its research into practice.
