Advisor myWKU Tabs and Pages
myWKU will use tabs and pages to separate and classify information. Everyone will have a myWKU tab which has a Campus Info page that everyone sees and then will have personal page based on their roles at WKU – Employee, Student, Advisor and Faculty. The myWKU tab will also have Single Sign On links for those applicants you have an account. SSO’s are Banner, Blackboard, InfoView, MyStuff, TopNet, WKU Email. You may not make any changes to the myWKU tab. To select the other tab select the My Personal Page tab.

Banner: is a mission-critical Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system used by every office at WKU.
The Banner student module houses academic and administrative records for all students including
student applications, courses, degree programs, grades, transcripts, financial aid, billing accounts, and
over 20 years of academic history. The Banner Human Resources module houses key employee
demographic data, position inventory and history, professional credentials, and benefits information.
The Banner finance module includes general ledger, purchasing, grants accounting, asset inventory,
accounts payable, and budgeting. Related modules include integrated document imaging, degree audit,
and enterprise portal.
The first time you access Banner with myWKU you may be asked for your Banner password please enter
it in the login form:
Once you have enter the information and select the Save button it should do all of the normal Banner
login checks and once validated load the Banner main menu.
Blackboard WKU Blackboard offers a secure, online teaching and learning space for the WKU
community. Faculty can activate accounts on the system by attending an initial face-to-face or online
training workshop that covers the basics of using Blackboard. Once faculty members have completed
the Blackboard New Course Instructor Workshop, they can create course sites and activate student
accounts for the sites using the Faculty Tools tab inside Blackboard. Faculty and students can participate
in online teaching and learning activities by logging into their course sites at
http://blackboard.wku.edu
.
Infoview is a web based reporting tool used by faculty and staff at Western Kentucky University. Valid
users have the ability to schedule, view, print, and export Crystal reports that have been developed by
Administrative Systems and Applications.
MyStuff "individual" file space is a file storage area available to all currently enrolled students and
active employees (faculty and staff). As part of the Active Directory project, all student, faculty and staff
have been allocated up to 1gig of individual file space. This space is not shareable and is for use by the
individual for academic or professional purposes. MyStuff file storage area can be accessed online
anywhere, anytime
TopNet
is the main secure, web interface to the Banner ERP system. TopNet is accessible anytime, anywhere and provides student, faculty, staff, retirees, alumni and affiliates with access to all academic and administrative records. Faculty can manage and grade their classes via this interface. Outlook Web Access (OWA) which is one of the best webmail interfaces in the industry. OWA is almost as fully functional as Outlook and Entourage.My Personal Page Content
Change your tab access by selecting the tab you wish to work with. Changing tabs will change the sub-pages that you are able to access and some of the functions of the page will change.
Selecting My Personal Page tab will change to that tab and preload the MyPage as the default page for that tab. You will also note that with this tab you will have the Options button which allows you to add
more pages, add portlets/applications to the page or delete portlets from the page, and have different layout templates for the pages. Note: there are no SSO’s on this tabs ribbon. Check the Customize link for instructions on how to personalize your MyPage
myWKU Portlets
WKU Apps portlet will either sign you into the application that you have authority to access or it will take you to the login page if SSO is not possible for that application (example: Toppermail) by selecting the link. The links that you have access to will be displayed based on your role at WKU. This portlet appears on multiple page to help with quick accesses to sites and applications.

Advisor Dashboard portlet provides a quick, easy tool for searching for an Advisee or a Student and displaying pertinent information to help you provide timely advice. You must select a term and enter either a student ID or all or the first part of the student’s name, then click the appropriate search type, as
follows.
If you do not enter a student ID, you must enter something in at least one of the name fields. • Click Student to tell the system to search only among your students for matching records. • Click Advisees to tell the system to search only among your advisees for matching records. • Click Both to tell the system to search among your students and advisees for matching records. • Click All to tell the system to search among all students and advisees for matching records.
The system searches for records matching the search criteria and displays results (if any) in the portlet. The Messages column includes the following links:
• A red flag indicates that a hold exists for the student and you can navigate to the View Holds page in TopNet, if hold information is available on that page.
• Icons indicate each student’s relationship (student, advisee, or both) to the user. The icons link to the View Student Schedule page in TopNet
The Class Standing or Major column includes the following navigational links. • The student’s class standing link goes to the Degree Evaluation page in TopNet. • The student’s major link goes to the General Student Information page in TopNet. The Tools column includes the following navigational links.
• The transcript icon goes to the Academic Transcript Options page in TopNet. • The test scores icon goes to the Test Scores page in TopNet.
• The e-mail icon launches your e-mail program with the student’s e-mail address.
TopNet Bulletin Board Advisor portlet contains Advisor information supplied by the Registrar’s office and AARC for WKU Advisors: may include registration date information, change of major information and other important information. Content will be updated based on their timelines.

RSS – RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". It is a way to easily distribute a list of headlines, update notices, and sometimes content to a wide number of people. It is used by computer programs that organize those headlines and notices for easy reading. We have delivered – WKU Herald, BG Daily News, AP Top U.S. News, and BBC News latest stories from the Home section of the BBC News web site Bookmarks portlet that should be helpful to users to create a portlet will all of you favorites sites and sites that you use often or occasionally.
