EVENING WORSHIP - SUNDAYS @ 5
Everything you need to participate fully in the service is found in this leaflet.Thank you for worshipping with us this evening.
The Third Sunday of Easter April 18, 2021
MUSICAL CALL TO WORSHIP OPENING SENTENCES
We are the miracles that God made To taste the bitter fruit of Time. We are precious.
And one day our suffering
Will turn into the wonders of the earth. That is why our music is so sweet. It makes the air remember.
There are secret miracles at work That only Time will bring forth. I too have heard the dead singing. And they tell me that
This life is good
They tell me to live it gently With fire, and always with hope. There is wonder here
And there is surprise
In everything the unseen moves. The ocean is full of songs.
The sky is not an enemy. Destiny is our friend.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in all his redeeming work; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
READING Luke 24:36b-48
Jesus himself stood among the disciples and said to them, “Peace be with you.” They were startled and terrified, and thought that they were seeing a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. While in their joy they were disbelieving and still wondering, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate in their presence.
Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you—that everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.
At the conclusion of the reading:
Reader Hear what the Spirit is saying to God’s people.
People Thanks be to God.
A period of silence follows the reading.

Leader We pray for the church, that it may carry forward God’s redemptive work; for all
bishops and other ministers, for all who serve the church and serve the world through the church, and for those gathered here in worship and in prayer. Risen Lord Jesus,
People hear our prayer.
Leader We pray for the nations and peoples of the world, that the powers that oppress and
destroy may be dismantled, and that justice, peace, and prosperity reign supreme. Risen Lord Jesus,
People hear our prayer.

remember especially Augustine, Tom, Leonor, Lou, Margery, Harris, Veronica, Steven, Stacey, Ryan, Liz, Carla, Frank, Jim, Joan, Roger, Andrea, Nadia, Mihail, Padmini, Rosalyn, Miriam, Holly, Juliana, Alysse, Meredith, Lana, Jennifer, Marcey, Sarah, Susan, Marika, Ferrel, Danojla, Steve, Laurie, Winifred and Sam. LORD’S PRAYER
Officiant As our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,
All Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name.
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
BLESSING AND DISMISSAL
Officiant The God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, the great
Shepherd of the sheep, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be among you and remain with you always.
Amen.
Go in peace.
People Thanks be to God.
