Problem Gambling Core Level Training

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

October 16-17, 2014

And

November 13-14, 2014

Purpose

Problem and Pathological gambling is a progressive behavior disorder in which a person has a psychological uncontrollable preoccupation and urge to gamble. This results in excessive gambling, the outcome of which is the loss of time, money, families, careers, and lives. The gambling ultimately reaches the point where it disrupts and destroys the gambler's personal life, family relationships, or vocational pursuits. Therefore, Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) is offering gambling counselor training to assist counselors in providing problem gambling treatment services to adolescents, adults, families and significant others with gambling-related disorders and problems.

This 30-hour core level training will assist counselors in meeting the ODMHSAS gambling treatment professional requirements and a portion of the National Gambling Counselor Certification.

Effective in 2010, all individuals seeking certification must complete the program in sequence and meet one of the following criteria.

Attendees must meet at minimum one of the following criteria to provide gambling treatment services: Be a
