Two monks on a mission choose very different paths
THE BIG IDEA
DELIVERANCE is a short film inspired by a Zen parable that has been
told for millennia, surfacing in cultures all over the world. Interpreted in a
diverse variety of languages, religions and philosophies, its central theme
of 'mukti' – deliverance – remains timeless.
The director Zachary Coffin read the story as a child growing up in San
Francisco, and it made such a deep impact that he continued visualizing it
throughout his life. Last year during monsoon Zack saw photographs of
the Mallalli river in Karnataka and knew at once that now was the time to
bring this story to the screen.
The entire film was shot in a single day in a remote location (with leeches
and no phone connectivity!) deep in the jungle mountains of Coorg, India.
CAST
SANJAY NATH is a theater actor with a huge
body of work in TV, web, films and commercials in India and abroad. Some of his works include Netflix’s Sense8, ALTBalaji’s Bose: Dead/Alive and BBC’s Beecham House, among many others.
In Deliverance, look for Sanjay’s real-life tattoo of an ancient Mayan symbol, which was used to establish the cross-cultural timelessness of the characters.
ZACHARY COFFIN has performed in over 50
film, TV and theatre productions in English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, French and Spanish – in India and the West. Most known for the hit Hindi movies Tiger Zinda Hai and Parmanu, he has been nominated in the Best Actor category by the Indian Television Association four times.
Deliverance is Zack’s first film in India directing himself.
ISHIT YAMINI is a Miss Bihar winner and
Miss Maxim India finalist who has modelled for such premiere brands as Ponds, Lakme, Sephora, Renault, Sunsilk, Roadster and Royal Stag, among many others. She is represented by Toabh agency.
Deliverance is Ishit’s debut film.

Producer, Writer & Director Zachary Coffin
Zack is an American actor and filmmaker who has lived in India the past 10 years. He trained at three different film schools: Columbia University and NYU in New York, and then in Los Angeles earned an MFA in Directing from USC, the largest and oldest film school in America. He then went on to win the Television Academy’s prestigious internship in directing and worked on an Emmy-winning TV series.
Executive Producer Shivaji Storm Sen
Shivaji is an independent artist, photographer and filmmaker with a fine art approach to fashion. His photography work often questions gender roles and discrimination, and he has clicked a broad range of celebrities such as Dia Mirza, Kalki Koechlin, Radhika Apte, Aditi Rao Hydari, Vicky Kaushal, Richa Chadda, Soha Ali Khan and many more.
Cinematographer Amogh Deshpande
Amogh has been working in the Indian and European film industries for the past 6 years. He apprenticed under the legendary DoP Kiran Deohans (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham), before studying formally at Prague Film School. His works includes Son of Abish, Comedy Shots, The Meeting, Midnight Misadventures with Mallika Dua, Do Cup Chai.
Editor Gourav Roy
Gourav has become a go-to editor for short films. His keen sense of design as a cinematographer and colour gradist for ad films, has helped him in making connections on the editing table. His short films Photograph and Almost There have been seen in film festivals around the world and by millions in India on platforms such as Hamara Movies. His most recent work is Green Blackberries.
Sound Designer Shreyas Srinivas
Shreyas is a Mumbai-based sound designer and music producer. After having studied audio engineering at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood and music technology at NYU in New York, Shreyas went on to work on over 40+ movies both in LA and in India. His work can be viewed on Zee5, Netflix and Amazon Prime, and includes several movies which have been premiered at prestigious film festivals such as Cannes.
