computer account and
enrolling online
FOR NEW STUDENTS
Most students set up (activate) their computer account and enrol online before they start. This document describes what you have to do if you arrive at university without having done this. Your first step is to activate your computer account and find out your
username
and password. You will use your username and password to access all university computer systems including studentcentral and your university email

Once you have a username and password, your next step is to complete stage
1
online
enrolment
. This is when you confirm that all personal, course and fee assessment details
we have for you are correct and when you will be given an email address.
Your enrolment will be finalised when you attend stage
2
the
in-person enrolment
session
at university. At this stage if appropriate we will also confirm your attendance to
the Student Loans Company in order to release your loan. You will not be able to
download and print off the Tuition Fee payment forms at this time in this room, however
there will be paper copies available at in-person enrolment and from the Academic
Services office. You can also print the forms off later, by going back to them on
studentcentral.
How to Activate your Computer Account

You need to know your
student number which you will find on the ‘invitation to enrol’
letter you received before coming to university. If you have problems finding your student
number, ask at your school office or contact Academic Services.
You may also need a pen and paper to write down your username and password.
If you are using a computer in a university
library

1. Find a Windows PC no one else is using. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL. to wake up the logon screen. Enter activate as your ‘username’ and as your ‘password’, as shown below.

Before you can register you must agree to the Conditions of Use, the Security Policy and the Library Rules. If you want to read these documents again at any time you will find them in the

area on the Information Services web site http://www.brighton.ac.uk/is Page 5: ResultsWhen you see this screen you know you have set up your account successfully! Carefully write down your username, password and read the important information on screen. Make sure you logout (from the Start Menu) before leaving the computer. If you don’t, someone else may discover your password.
You won’t be able to use your new computer account for 15 minutes, you should then

If you are using a university computer, you’ll need to hold down the CTRL ALT and DEL keys, or click the mouse, to wake up the login-screen again. This time use your new university username and password to log in. Once connected to the computer, look for the
studentcentral shortcut on the desktop. Double-click on this to open the studentcentral log in screen. Enter your new username and password again here.

The enrolment link should be the first thing you see as long as you have a current record to enrol against. If it is not please contact the enrolment helpdesk by email to
[email protected] or telephone to 01273 644777
You will be held responsible for any activities that are carried out using your username and password. Never tell anyone else your password! To change your password, use the
MyInfo facility at https://myinfo.brighton.ac.uk. You can also go to the MyInfo page if you have forgotten your password and need a new one.
Important: If you type in the wrong password details 10 times within a 15 minute period, this will result in your user account being locked for 15 minutes. The account will be
