Grand Marshall of St. Patrick’s Day Parade Announced

Legislative Committee Chairman Chris Kaminski wel-comed a full house to Peanuts & Politics

It's billed as "The World's Smallest St. Patrick's Day Parade", and if you see it, you'll know why. It has only one marcher and it lasts about 10 min-utes.

The city of Enterprise plays host to the one-person event each St. Patrick's Day, with a local citizen of Irish ancestry given the honor of carrying the colors of the Emerald Isle down 1 block of East College Street, from the Court House, to the town's other unique institution, the Boll Weevil Monu-ment, and back.

Since 1993, the Grand Marshall’s name has been kept a secret until the day of the event. This year, it was decided to share the Grand Marshall’s name to generate a larger interest, as this is the first year the parade will be held on a Saturday.

Visit Enterprise is proud to announce the Grand Marshall for the 19th An-nual World’s Smallest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Ms. Marjorie Ann Christina McGarry. Ms. McGarry was selected among tens of applicants, and has been a member of the Enterprise community since 1984. She graduated from En-terprise High School in 1984 and has worked at Alfab, Inc. from 1999 to the present.

Other new additions to the festivities this year are family fun activities and specialty sale events at many of the local Downtown businesses between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM the day of the parade. The day concludes with a special menu and Irish drink tastings at the Historic Rawls during their dinner hours.

The parade has had many marchers, including the late Pat Donahue who created the costume and generated media attention from news and entertain-ment media all over the world. The parade has been featured on CBS Sun-day, National Public Radio, and other media outlets
