Instant Spam Control
-
the easy guide to your antispam solution
Instant Spam Control is easy to work with – and easy letting work for you. 97 percent of all spam is automatically quarantined by the system. The remaining three percent you can choose to handle in three ways:
1) You do nothing: You receive an e-mail containing a simple list of the e-mails the system has quarantined. You can choose to delete this quarantine list or just leave it in your inbox. You can also choose not to received the quarantine list, how this is done will be described later in this guide. E-mails that have been quarantined are automatically deleted after 30 days.
2) You take action locally: You can “train” the spam filter. In this way you can customize it and indicate which e-mails you want to receive and which you don’t.
3) You take action globally: By classifying e-mails you train the system in a general way, so that spam is slowly and securely added to the list of unwanted e-mails (see further description later).

Instant Spam Control is a web service, so you have to be connected to the internet to use it.

To gain access to your quarantine inbox do the following:
Use the link on the bottom of a quarantine e-mail to go directly to the inbox. If this link doesn’t forward you in the correct manner, the link is expired. If this happens go to www.icg.dk, click the tab “Customer login” and choose “SpamControl login”. Type your e-mail address in the field “Username” and click on “Create new
password”. Shortly hereafter you’ll receive an e-mail containing a new link to the quarantine inbox.
o
If you choose number 1: “You do nothing”:
Generally, if you don’t want to categorize your e-mails, you can alter the frequency of the quarantine report e-mail or totally disable it. If you change your mind, you can enable the quarantine report at any time. As a standard setting you’ll receive one quarantine report per day.
Do the following: Use the link already described to go to your quarantine inbox. On the top of the screen you’ll see two tabs “Quarantine Inbox” and “Settings”. Click on “Settings” and choose “Quarantine Settings” – see the screenshot below. In the middle the frequency of the quarantine report can be set. Options are “Daily”, “Weekly” and “Never”. When you’ve chosen your preference remember to click “Save Settings”. When done click “Log Off” in the upper right corner and close the page.
o
If you choose number 2: “You take action locally”:
If, by mistake, an e-mail from one of your associates has been quarantined you can deliver or even white list the e-mail to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

Use the link already described to go to you quarantine inbox. On the right side of each e-mail in the list you can choose “Deliver e-mail”. Click “Whitelist” if your intention is that all e-mails from this sender are to be delivered to you in the future. To delete the e-mail click “Delete”. Remember to pinpoint the e-mail you want to deal with. You can select multiple e-mails or select the whole list by
clicking the box on the top. Quarantined e-mails are automatically deleted after 30 days.
If you manually want to add e-mail addresses to the whitelist, click the “Settings” tab.
Whitelisting means, that you’ll receive all e-mails from the e-mail you indicate regardless of its content and blacklisting vice versa. Too add an e-mail address to the whitelist type in the e-mail addressin the upper form and click “Add”. To add an e-mail address to the blacklist use the form below.

TIP:
If you want to white- or blacklist a whole domain (for instance all e-mails from icg.dk regardless of prefix) you simply type in everything after “@” in the e-mail address. See example below.
If you choose number 3: “You take action globally”:
You can actively contribute to minimizing the amount of spam e-mails. It’s an everlasting process and has no immediate effect on your quarantine inbox but you’ll be part of making the Barracuda products better for all its users over the world. When enough users like you have classified an e-mail address it’ll be added to the spam filter’s list. Do the following to train the global filter: Use the link already described to go to your quarantine inbox. Here you need to classify the e-mail as being spam or not. In the example below all e-e-mails are classified as being spam.
When the relevant e-mails are marked you click either “Classify as spam” or
“Classify as NOT spam”. Your input will then be added to the global filter that is the base of your antispam solution. Spam e-mails are automatically deleted when the process is done.
