Students are taught in small, personalised classes by teachers who are expert in developing students with different cultures and different mother tongues. Our specialist college system then allows students to focus rapidly on the subjects and ideas that truly excite them.

Experience subjects in the real world and understand them from a new perspective. UK universities, particularly those top-ranked in the league tables, are looking at more than academic grades when assessing applications. It’s not just about getting three As at A Level or 90 per cent in Foundation exams; they want to see students who aregoing to get involved in the whole university experience.

Our enrichment programme will help students gain experience in areas beyond the

curriculum and develop the key skills and interests universities and employers are looking for, including:

⋅ High level project management skills

Specialist skills to aid subject understanding, specialist techniques and the ability to achieve high grades

Core personal development skills that will enhance your ability to stand out from the crowd and significantly improve the opportunity to secure a place at your chosen university.

Meet industry specialists

Our programmes feature lectures from industry experts and visits to global enterprises and university faculties. We provide you with a wide range of stimulating experiences which will broaden your perspective and help you stand out in your university application.

How Bellerbys can help you gain

a place at a top UK university

Improving your subject knowledge and communication skills

Our enrichment programme will keep you up-to-date with the latest business news and events. Taking part in these discussions helps embed your learning and improves your communication skills.

Complementing your academic studies

We have created a diverse set of enrichment activities to give you a stimulating and fulfilling education alongside your academic studies. There is something for everybody on the programme including guest speakers, trips to local and international businesses as well as workshops and a wide range of clubs and lectures.

Joining professional clubs, workshops and discussion groups

Joining one of our clubs or workshops is a great way to make new friends, improve your speaking skills and find out more about careers in finance. You can debate issues with like-minded students, or meet practising professionals and ask them about their careers.

University visits, company visits and specialist lectures

This is another way to broaden your horizons, make friends and support your university application. There are plenty of activities including lectures from industry professionals, visits to financial institutions in Canary Wharf and our partner universities.

We believe the key to our success lies in

a combination of academic excellence,

knowledgeable and friendly staff, specialist

study centres, a diverse set of enrichment

activities and above all, an encouraging and

supportive learning environment.

The Bellerbys Way

Bellerbys College has been helping students to turn dreams

and ambitions into brilliant results for more than fifty years.

Our curriculum offers all the strengths – and the excellent

outcomes - of the British system, but it is adapted specially to

meet the needs of international students.

(11)

To help our students

develop top level

communication and

study skills and gain

entry in their university

of choice, we offer

an intensive English

Language Preparation

Programme (ELPP).

Improving your English and

developing your study skills

Competition to study for an Accounting and Finance

degree in the UK is fierce. Students with a high

command English will have a distinct advantage,

particularly when it comes to expressing themselves

in their personal statements.

We find that many prospective Bellerbys students have an IELTS score of below the requirements of many UK universities. To help our students develop top level communication and study skills and gain entry to their university of choice, we offer an intensive English Language Preparation Programme (ELPP). The ELPP can be undertaken for between one and three terms before joining either the A Level or Foundation Programmes. The ELPP focuses on maximising progress in each of the four core English skills so that you develop a fully rounded language proficiency. You will also acquire the crucial study skills to help you learn faster and with greater confidence.

One of the recognised benefits of this programme is that throughout the duration of the ELPP you will be fully supported to help you keep track of your progress and overcome any particularly challenging elements. The advantage of this is that it ensures you reach the required level of proficiency in the English language for any further course of study you wish to undertake.

Typical Programme Structure:

Crucial skills for future academic learning

5 to 7 hours per week: you will also acquire the crucial study skills such as examination technique, note-taking and text scanning, to help you learn faster and with greater confidence.

General English – 8 to 10 hours per week: grammatical accuracy, sentence formation and structure, English tense system, identifying structure and meaning in listening, speaking and reading tasks.

Academic Preparation – 10 hours per week: academic English vocabulary and

grammar, academic reading, skimming and scanning texts, academic essay writing, writing about visual information and expressing opinion, listening to lectures and introduction to seminar skills. Daily homework will also form part of the programme.
