1 Introduction

These Release Notes provide an overview of RightFax 16 Enhancement Pack 6, including new features, delivery information, and supported platforms. OpenText recommends that you read these Release Notes in conjunction with the documentation included with the software package. If any conflicts exist, the Release Notes supersede the other documentation.

We also recommend that you check OpenText My Support (https://support.opentext.com) for any patches or documentation updates that may have been posted after the initial release of this product.

2 New features

OpenText RightFax 16 Enhancement Pack 6 includes the following new features.

Operating systems

RightFax server software is supported on the following server operating systems:

• Windows Server 2019

• Windows Server 2016

The following versions of Microsoft SQL server are supported:

• SQL Server 2017 Express Edition

• SQL Server 2017 Enterprise Edition

• SQL Server 2017 Standard Edition

• SQL Server 2016 Enterprise Edition

• SQL Server 2016 Standard Edition

• SQL Server 2016 Express Edition

• SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition

• SQL Server 2014 Standard Edition

• SQL Server 2014 Express Edition

Microsoft .NET 4.7.2 Framework is installed by the RightFax install program.

Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 10 or later is required.

Tagging received faxes with metadata

Custom metadata can be configured so that users can tag received faxes with metadata.

Image scanner integration

Fujitsu model fi-7300NX image scanner is now supported with the RightFax SMTP email gateway.

2.2 Enhanced features

OpenText RightFax 16 Enhancement Pack 6 includes the following enhancements to existing features.

Installation

• The option to enable single sign on (SSO) for Web Admin, FaxUtil Web, and RightFax Analytics is available.

RightFax Services

For all services that are running interactively in diagnostics mode, the new status “Interactive” will appear.

• DocTransport Module

• When a fax is placed in the fax queue, call grouping checks the queue for another fax going to the same number. Faxes to the same number can be sent as a group in one call. The line is kept open while the faxes are sent. Alternately, faxes to the same number can be sent in sequence. Each fax will be sent to the number in a separate call.

• Dialogic Brooktrout SDK version 6.11.

• With one command, database work requests can be purged in Enterprise Fax Manager.

• Server Module

• An organization may have policies about acceptable language in its communications. To help users comply with such policies, faxes with banned or sensitive words can be blocked from sending.

• A SQL database now contains the message queues that are shared in a Shared Services environment.

• Conversion Engine

• High resolution is an option for converting faxes. The resulting image is 400 x 400 dpi.

• E-mail Gateway Module

• RightFax user group can be included in the e-mail subject line with a new macro.

• AutoReply Module

• The AutoReply Module is now included in the default server installation. This feature must be installed and run on the RightFax server.

• Sync Module

• Secure LDAP is supported.

Users

• Faxes can be routed to specific users based on the time the fax is received.

• Faxes can be routed to an FTP site.

• A library document can be automatically attached before the body of all outbound faxes.

• Administrator can configure workflows so that users can tag faxes with metadata.

• FCL code can be used to specify a private fax number on cover sheets.

• Users can be excluded from RightFax Archive.

• Outbound faxes and coversheets can be scanned by optical character recognition (OCR).

• The option to include the Web Delivery URL can be configured for inbound routed faxes. This setting has moved from the email gateway configuration.

• The mailbox settings and the folders for users can be refreshed with one command.

User groups

• User groups can be assigned permission for the users in the group to upload profile pictures.

Administrators can delete users’ profile pictures.

• The option to include the Web Delivery URL can be configured for inbound routed faxes. This setting has moved from the email gateway configuration.

• The option to include the fax in email notifications can be selected for sent and received faxes.

• Fax Dialog Customization now includes the option to allow the user to add external attachments via browsing or drag and drop when sending a fax.

• Fax Dialog Customization now includes the option to allow the user to select library documents when sending a fax.

• User groups can be excluded from RightFax Archive.

• The mailbox settings and the folders for user groups can be refreshed with one command.

Stamps

• Administrators can create a library of stamps, and stamps can be created by and for users (known as personal stamps).

Alerts and Monitors

• Secure SMTP connections can be configured for the alerting and monitoring service.

• Alerts can be disabled or enabled in the list of alerts.

• Alert can be configured for failed login attempts.

• Alerts can be configured for the length of time the fax has spent in a specified status.

Connections

• The Connections node in Enterprise Fax Manager and Web Admin is now “Client Connections.”

• With one command, all client connections can be deleted from the list of connections.

Reports

• The Failed Login Report lists the number of failed login attempts per user.

• The Deleted Inbound Faxes and Deleted Outbound Faxes reports list the users who move faxes to the trash folder.

Dialing Plan

To verify the execution of dialing rules on a group of fax numbers, you can import a list of test cases in a .csv file.

Web Admin

• Reports can be generated in Web Admin.

• The user group settings "Group members can set their own conversion bias defaults" and

"Include Web Delivery URL for inbound faxes routed to email" are available in Web Admin.

FaxUtil

• Users can delegate the ability to apply stamps to faxes.

• Users with permission can upload profile pictures.

• Users can tag faxes with metadata if they are configured for a workflow.

• Forward to new number icon is available on the Fax Viewer toolbar.

• The use of error correction mode (ECM) appears in the fax history.

• The action of saving a fax appears in the fax history.

• The fax history is presented in a graphical format.

• Users can set a default print method.

• To increase the speed for viewing a fax with many pages, users can specify that one page of the fax is uploaded to the viewer until the next page is selected.

• Users can show or hide the descriptive labels on the buttons on the toolbar in FaxUtil.

FaxUtil Web

• User can delegate the ability to apply stamps to faxes.

• Users with permission can upload profile pictures.

• When annotating a fax, a user can select a shade of black for a line, rectangle, or ellipse.

• Users can tag faxes with metadata if they are configured for a workflow.

• The use of error correction mode (ECM) appears in the fax history. The action of saving a fax appears in the fax history.

• The fax history is presented in a graphical format.

Administrative Utilities

2.2.13.1 Enterprise Fax Reporter

• The Failed Login Report lists the number of failed login attempts per user.

• The Deleted Inbound and Outbound Faxes reports list the users who move faxes to the trash folder.

2.2.13.2 MigrationMFC.exe

• Faxes can be migrated by date.

PDF Module

New permissions can be set to require a password and to restrict editing and printing of PDFs that are generated and sent from RightFax.

Connector for Ricoh ESA MFPs

External Document Connector (EDC) is no longer required by the RightFax Connector for Ricoh ESA MFPs.

Integration Module

• FCL code IMAGETYPE now includes the option for landscape orientation.

• The sender’s private fax number can be included on the fax coversheet with the FCL code PRIVATEFAX.

• The unique ID of the fax can be included in notification messages with a new variable.

• For each channel that exists for the program Notify.exe, the number of notification attempts can be set via a Windows registry key.

RightFax Connect

If you are updating from a previous version, RightFax Connect customers that use proxy servers for communication must update the proxy server to a new uniform resource identifier (URI).

RightFax Archive

Faxes can be scheduled for deletion by the age of the faxes from RightFax Archive.

2.3 Discontinued features

The following features have been discontinued in this release:

• RightFax COM API.

• RightFax Connector for Konica Minolta MFPs.

• RightFax Native Connector for Konica Minolta MFPs.

• Fine and normal conversion quality are no longer available.

• VIM and MAPI printer drivers have been removed.

• The AutoReply service must be installed with and physically run the RightFax server. Remote installations are not supported.

• Server-side application conversion is no longer available. Microsoft Office documents are converted by the RightFax Conversion Engine.

• Work requests can’t be deleted with the DBPurge database utility.

4 Installation and upgrade notes

To install or upgrade RightFax, refer to the OpenText RightFax 16 EP6 Installation Guide for instructions.

You can install RightFax 16 Enhancement Pack 6 client applications by using the included client installation program. Refer to the OpenText RightFax 16 EP6 Installation Guide.

4.1 Before you begin installing

If you are upgrading a RightFax server, this release will remove and replace existing RightFax 10.6 or later applications with RightFax 16 Enhancement Pack 6. This means that discontinued features such as Web Client will no longer be available.

If set for your users and groups, the following configurations will be lost during the upgrade. To restore them, they must be reset after the upgrade.

• The option to include the Web Delivery URL with inbound routed faxes has been removed from the email gateway configuration. This setting has moved to the User Edit > Routing tab in Enterprise Fax Manager.

• In the Group Edit > Basic Information tab in Enterprise Fax Manager, the option to include the fax with email notifications has been enhanced. The option to include the fax in email notifications can be selected for sent and received faxes.

If the AutoReply service is configured, then the service must be reconfigured after the upgrade.

Apply this release to local RightFax servers before installing it on remote RightFax servers.
