Our Virtual Data Center (vDC) is far more than just a virtual server – it combines virtual resources to let customers scale up and down according to their business/IT requirements. Our classic and most commonly booked IaaS product is vDC as it provides instant and flexible CPU, RAM, disk space, networks and software licenses. This product features security components like a next-generation firewall, anti-virus and backup & restore services.
Our vDC clients are separated on all levels from each other but do share the same physical infrastructure. This service is called a “virtual private cloud” – it guarantees the security of a private cloud whilst mantaining the cost effectiveness of a public cloud.
Our product combines solutions from market leaders like VMware, HP, EMC, Brocade, Cisco and others. As the client, you can design and manage the virtual components in the same way you would, your own physical components. The Global Access self-service portal puts all possible resources at your fingertips, letting you custo-mize your networks, servers and security measures.

With its pool of highly availa-ble compute, storage and networking resources, vPC fits well in scenarios with variable or bursting workloads, like database set-ups, back-office infrastructures, test & development environments and next-generation mobile applications.

DEDICATED PRIVATE CLOUD
PROJECT
Our Dedicated Private Cloud (dPC) is a physically isola-ted compute and management stack that offers maxi-mum control over capacity assignments and compute resources.
dPC is an IT service that caters for projects that require many resources or security designs requiring complete physical separation. This option is the more expensive of the two, and we normally advise starting with vPC and upgrading if necessary. dPC is the right solution for isolated installations, which are not suitable due to their demands on hardware, power, software licensing or other specifica-tions for a shared environment. dPC includes control of compute resources – the entire compute and memory allocation is reserved and can be assigned or over-commit-ted as needed. dPC is an extension of your data center, allowing you to choose where to host your applications and workloads. It is fully configurable and can grow as your needs increase.

This additional service allows you to centrally set up, manage and maintain all encryption policies yourself.

Global Access is the first IaaS / cloud service provider in Germany with an information security management system certified according to the German IT-Grundschutz [IT base-line protection] – the highest international data security & compliance standards. Introduced by the Federal Office for Information Security [Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Infor-mationstechnik], the IT-Grundschutz is a standard derived from BSI/ISO 27001 but with a higher level of required safegu-ards. Global Access has also implemented a quality manage-ment system that complies with ISO 9001 certification. We make it simple to roll out and adhere to your IT compli- ance requirements. In addition to our security offer, we guarantee your vDC always comes with Gateway Security Services for perimeter control to and from the Internet. You may choose a cost-effective virtual appliance model or an external hardware firewall cluster. And with VMware’s NSX design, we now offer optional security services on a shell- based level. Your virtual machines can be backed up daily by our backup services. In the case of an error, all VMs and data can be resto-red. Our backup service runs in the background without requi-ring any special software on your end. This service can be requested when ordering your vDC package.
Backup & Restore
High Availability (HA) refers to a system’s capacity to remain accessible if a system component fails. Disaster recovery (DR), in turn, is the process by which a system is restored after a natural or man-made disaster. While they both increase overall availabi-lity, a notable difference is that with HA there is almost never a loss of service. HA refers to maintaining the service and DR to retaining the data.
Modern IT is now highly dependent on robust disaster recovery services. Both HA/DR solutions must be in place to entirely protect your IT set-up.
All Enterprise Level vDC services operate at the Highest Availa-bility as standard. . Global Access ensures HA for its customers by running two data centers connected as a co-location service. In case of total failure at one site, the second site main-tains functionality while the failed system is immediately triggered to restart. The data is mirrored synchronously, and enough resources are reserved on both sites for emergency scenarios.

Our hybrid billing model is simple and adaptable to your Global Access vDC environment.
a) The PAYG plan (pay-as-you-go) lets you select the resour-ces you want billed on a per-hour basis.
b) The Reserved Billing plan lets you select the amount of fixed resources you need every month (over a 12-month period). This option gives you a higher rebate compared to the PAYG plan. (Note: If you use more resources than selec-ted in your plan, we simply bill the extra resources at the PAYG rate).
The unique hybrid billing option applies not only to RAM, CPU, disk space, security services and networks, but also to required Microsoft licenses.

Upon booking, you will receive a pool of resources in a separate and secure multi-tenant virtual infrastructure set-up, including RAM, CPU, disk space and network & security services. Through our portal you have full control of booking, configuring and removing these resources and security settings.
You decide how many servers to run with this resource pool. This lets you bypass the complex and tedious method of indivi-dually defining, separating and integrating resources as a single virtual server. Virtual machines are provided as a template of an operating system with pre-installed applications and possibly located in a catalog.
The great advantage of pooled resources is that you can provide your virtual machine with its own server infrastructure within minutes, sidestepping long installation processes and multiple installation DVDs.
