Extended Hours / After Care

Arrangements for extended hours must be made by the Friday before the participant’s camp begins. Extended hours run everyday from 8am – 9am and from 4pm – 5pm at a cost of $40/week.

Multi-Sport Camp

The Multi-Sport camp is for children of all ages and abilities. Campers participate in popular sports as well as adapted sports and activities unique to Variety Village. Children are grouped by age. Prices are for one week sessions.

mountain Bike Camp

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of riding trails and negotiating technical sections of the trail. There is instruction in basic bike maintenance, trail and riding etiquette and trail sustainability. There are regular excursions to trails around the east end of the city. Children interested in the camp must have a bicycle is good working condition, an approved helmet and be able to ride up 30km in a day. Prices are for one week sessions.

Mountain Bike Mon-Fri 4 Age: 9-13 $225 $275

mountain Bike Camp Intermediate

Participants must have successfully completed week 1 of Mountain Bike Camp, as this advanced program will expand fundamentals previously covered. Participants should also be prepared to take on longer more advanced trails throughout the week.

This popular camp includes high energy activities as well as a day trip to places of interest around the city. Prices are for one week sessions.

Swim Camp

Swim Camp is a great way for campers of all abilities to earn their Red Cross swim levels. The day is broken up into instructional swimming, free swim and a mix of dry land sports and activities. Prices are for one week sessions. Maximum three week sign up. Note during upper level weeks, spots will be reserved for swimmers in levels 6-10.

art Camp

Campers of all abilities express themselves creatively through art. Focusing on painting, illustration, music, drama and crafts, this camp encourages children to be creative while learning about mediums, techniques and applications. Prices are for one week sessions.

Sport Specialty Camps

Sports Specialty Camps offer campers the opportunity to learn sport-specific skills, rules, training techniques and exercises.

Campers have time to swim and the opportunity to build athleticism and gross motor skills. They experience team spirit through fun and engaging activities. Sports Specialty Camps are for children of all abilities. Prices are for one week sessions.

Basketball 2

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of Basketball as well as the mental, physical and team aspects of the game. There will instructions on the basics of movement without the ball, proper stance and strong communication. Participants must have attended either grassroots basketball during the year or a week of Sport Specialty Basketball during the summer. Participants must also be able to comfortably dribble a basketball and follow multi-step directions.

Sport mashup

Covers a wide variety of sports over the course of the week and focuses on specific skills related to them. Sports covered include some from other weeks as well as sports which do not have a week dedicated to them, such as volley ball, baseball, cricket, lacrosse and ultimate Frisbee.

Trails (Cross Country)

Perfect camp for getting young athletes ready for the upcoming cross country season at school. This camp will focus on trail running/ cross country conditioning tips and tricks.

rockwall

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of rock climbing. Basic elements of terminology, safety, and rock climbing technique will be covered during the week. Kids will have the chance to master our rock-walls, as well as participate in two outings to climbing gyms in the community. Other activities include swimming, sports, and games within the facility. This camp is the perfect opportunity to challenge kids, build self-esteem, and have tons of fun.

An introduction to over all fitness, work out and exercise routines. Focusing on gross motor skills and muscle development and to generate an interest in being a well rounded athlete.

Sport & Social Camp

This camp is for participants with disabilities and offers a mix of social and physical activities. Participants are encouraged to form relationships and develop life skills by helping to plan activities, going on outings and preparing meals. Camp runs from 1 pm to 8 pm and includes dinner. Prices are for one week sessions.

Building Blocks

Looking for a great way to transition your child into summer activities or back into the school routine? Participants learn effective means of communicating through play with peers and develop the skills to assist them with their interactions in the classroom and the playground. Each day will focus on skills relating to certain themes such as making friends, personal space, teamwork, etc.

Dance Camp

This camp is the perfect opportunity to introduce your child to the basic elements and principles of dance in ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop and Latin dance. The camp will culminate in a dance show performed for parents, staff and members. Prices are for one week sessions.

Drama Camp

Campers of all abilities are invited to learn the fundamentals of drama in this week long program. They will focus on elements such as character and plot formation and improv. Participants will use these fundamentals and develop an end of week performance. They also learn behind the scenes techniques to prepare for their show.

Leaders in Training

This two week camp is designed to encourage young teens to become more confident leaders in a recreational setting. They will spend the first week becoming certified in First Aid and CPR as well as participating in workshops focused on Leadership, lesson planning and strategies to deal with difficult situations. During the second week, LIT’s will be integrated into camps and have the opportunity to lead activities and interact with campers. They will have the chance to receive feedback on different aspects of their leadership.

Synchro Camp

Synchro Camp is for athletes of all abilities. Campers learn a wide range of synchronized swimming skills. Camps include Synchro-specific work; sessions for strength, speed, stamina, suppleness and stability; dance classes; speed swimming; stroke development; multi-sport games; and nutrition and goal setting. Prices are for one week sessions.

Flames Camp

Flames Camp is an excellent opportunity for swimmers that are comfortable swimming in the deep end and are interested in learning competitive swimming principles and technique. This camp incorporates a long swim in the morning, where swimmers will learn drills for all competitive strokes, proper starts and turns, and water based swim conditioning. Dry land activities focus on principles of physical fitness, goal setting, team building, and the rules of competition. Special consideration is given to swimmers with a physical disability.

Requirement: Swimmers must be able to swim 25 metres of front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke or whip kick in deep water. In order to register into this camp, participants must receive permission from coach, Corrine Bainton.

Sunshine Summer Camp

This camp will continue to work on skills that the athletes have been working on throughout the season. Requirements:

Any swimmer who has not trained with the team and are interested in joining this camp must be able to demonstrate the following standards;

-25 metre of the following: freestyle and back -vertical kick for a min of 30 seconds

-Any new members are asked to meet with the head coach before registering for the camp.

What to bring to camp:

Bathing suit, two towels, bathing cap, goggles, gym clothes, water bottle, running shoes, snacks, lunch (no products containing nuts please).
