A few things you need to know to make the switch...
Switch Kit: Instructions
Step 1: Open your Morgan Federal Bank Account. Make sure that you have your new Morgan Federal
Bank account numbers (or checks) available. You will need your account numbers and our routing number.
Step 2: Stop using your old accounts. Terminate direct deposits and automatic payments that are made to
your old bank account. Destroy those unused checks, ATM & debit cards and deposit slips.
Step 3: Sign up for (or change) direct deposit. If you like, you can use the attached direct deposit forms to
notify your employer and other businesses/organizations that you have a new checking account with Morgan
Federal Bank. Fill out the form using the bank routing number & account number from your new checks.
If you are currently receiving social
security or government checks,
you should consider having those
checks direct deposited into your
account. Why wait to get your
money? The fastest and easiest
way to get direct deposit (or to
change the one you already have)
is to go to www.ssa.gov/deposit
and fill out the direct deposit
sign-up form. You can also call Social
Security/SSI: 1-800-772-1213. For Veteran’s Benefits: 1-800-827-1000 or 1-877-838-2778.
Step 4: Change all automatic payments you already have. Many of us already have a lot of our monthly
payments deducted automatically from our checking accounts. Make sure you change those to reflect
your new information. You can use the attached Automatic Payment Change Request form to notify the
companies/organizations of your new account information.
Step 5: Close your old account. Once all your checks from your old account
have cleared and your automatic payments and direct deposits have changed to
your new account, fill out the attached form to notify your previous financial
institution that you would like to close your account.
