About Organizational Leadership and Learning
The Organizational Leadership and Learning (OLL) Program at UofL fosters leadership, learning, and performance for a changing world. OLL includes a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and Learning, a Master of Science in Human Resources and Organization Development, and a Ph.D. track in Human Resources and Organization Development.
The Master of Science in Human Resources and Organization Development (MS HROD) is designed for HR, learning, and organization development professionals. The program focuses on providing the necessary applied knowledge so students can properly evaluate and enhance performance opportunities, build positive human experiences at work and facilitate productive organization cultures in the workplace.
Accreditation
The University of Louisville is accredited by the Commission on the Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate, bachelor, master, specialist, doctoral, and first-professional degrees (D.M.D., J.D., M.D.)
The Master of Science in Human Resources and Organization Development is approved by the Society for Human Resource Management as aligning with the Guidelines for HR Programs.

—Online Program Info
The Master of Science in Human Resources and Organization Development (MS HROD) degree offered at the University of Louisville is available 100% online or face-to-face and focuses on educating professionals who lead performance, development and learning through discovery and critical inquiry. All courses include a live synchronous online class session that meets one day a week in the evening between 7:00pm to 8:00pm (Eastern Time).
MS HROD graduates are typically employed by various entities including businesses, corporations, government agencies, health-care organizations, the military, non-profit organizations, education institutions, and community-based groups.
Our online MS HROD program provides students with advanced knowledge and skills in three concentrations which emphasize various aspects of the HR field:
1. Human Resource Leadership (online; face-to-face) focuses on strategic and tactical human resource leadership for generalists and specialists across all industries and organizational settings.
2. Workplace Learning and Performance (online; face-to-face) focuses on learning, training, performance improvement, and instructional design in various organizational settings.
3. Health Professions Education (partially online; face-to-face) focuses on education, learning, leadership, and organization change for the health-care industry settings.

MS HROD Curriculum
You can earn your Master of Science in Human Resources and Organization Development in as little as two years by taking 100% of your courses online.
The program requires a minimum of 33-36 credits for completion: 18-21 hours of core courses, 12-15 hours of concentration courses, and 3 hours of electives. The core curriculum includes evidence based research in HROD, leadership class, and organizational analysis. Elective courses cover specialized topics including talent acquisition and management, methods of facilitation, and e-learning design and development.

Careers and Salary Information
About 136,000 human resources managers were employed nationwide in 2006. Human resources managers can be found in virtually any industry, and 13 % of human resources managers and specialists worked for the government. Beyond typical wage-and-salary jobs, about 17,000 were self-employed, serving as consultants for public and private employees.
Employment of human resources specialists is expected to grow 21% from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. Job opportunities should be good overall, especially in the employment services industry.

Admission
Upon admission in the MS HROD online programs, new students can begin courses in the fall, spring or summer terms. The following deadlines are set by the HROD Admissions Committee:
• June 15th for Fall admission
• September 15th for Spring admission
• February 15th for Summer admission
Applications received after these dates will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and only as time permits.

• Graduate School Application: Complete application for admission to the Graduate School at University of Louisville.
• $60.00 Application Fee: check or money order made payable to the University of Louisville.
• Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work
• Unconditional admission requires a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for all coursework taken.
• Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to the applicant’s academic or professional capabilities.
• If you have studied at a college or university in the last five years, the admissions committee prefers to see at least one letter from a faculty member. Other references can include work supervisors. Personal references (e.g. family, friends) are not accepted.
• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test score (for some applicants):
• Applicants are not required to provide GRE scores if they have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work or if they possess a terminal degree (e.g., M.D., D.D.S., and Ph.D.).
• Applicants must submit GRE scores if they have an undergraduate GPA of less than 3.0 in the last 60 hours or no terminal degree.
• GRE scores prior to August 1, 2011 must be a minimum of 800 (combined verbal and quantitative) for consideration for unconditional admission.
• GRE scores under the current exam must be a minimum of 146 (verbal) and 140 (quantitative) for consideration for unconditional admission.

Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for the Master of Science in Human Resources and Organization Development is one of the most affordable in the state and in the nation. Tuition for online courses is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students.

The tuition rates above apply only to online courses and may be different than, or in addition to, tuition costs for non-online courses. Tuition does not include costs associated with a specific course or program, such as textbooks.

Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for all online students who qualify. Here are the steps for first-time financial aid applicants:
1. Assemble your tax and asset information, such as your IRS forms, W2s, 1040s, etc.
2. Go to www.fafsa.gov to file your FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Be sure to apply for your PIN during the FAFSA filing process. Use the PIN to electronically sign your FAFSA. Our FAFSA school code is 001999.
3. Once your FAFSA is processed by the U.S. Department of Education, you will be sent a Student Aid Report (SAR). If you filed electronically, the SAR will be sent to you via email. If you filed by paper or did not provide an email address, the SAR will be sent to you by mail.
4. Review the SAR for comments and incorrect information. If accurate, keep the SAR for your records. If you find any errors, you can correct them by returning the paper SAR or by making corrections to a processed FAFSA online. If you used estimated tax return information when completing the FAFSA, remember to update your FAFSA with actual tax information by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool after you file your federal income tax return.

FAQs
1. What are the benefits of online learning?
The biggest benefit of online learning is that you can work to earn your degree from your own home while raising a family, working full-time or experiencing particular life circumstances that make commuting to campus difficult or impossible.
2. How is the online program different than the one on campus?
At UofL, you are taught by the same world-class faculty as our on campus students. You read the same books, do many of the same assignments and earn the same degree. The biggest difference is that you are able to do it in your own time and in a way that best fits your learning style and lifestyle.
3. I am on active duty. Can I take online classes at UofL?
Yes! You can take online classes from anywhere in the world, provided you have consistent Internet access. UofL offers a tuition discount to all active duty service members as well as to qualified veterans, Reserves and National Guard.
4. Can I receive credit for graduate courses completed at another institution?
Earned equivalent graduate credit may be transferred from regionally accredited institutions that offer advanced degrees.
Generally, the maximum number of semester hours transferable, upon request, is six.
