14Wingate, ranked fourth
among
the nation's Junior Colleges, had tocome
from behind in the second halftodefeat an aroused band of Braves in a
game
played on Wingate'shome
gridiron. The Braves led 7-0at the half after John Hogan had sneaked over from the one and added the extra point with a
place-kick. In thelast half the powerful Wingate eleven began to
move
and put 14 points on the scoreboardwhile holding the Braves scoreless. Itwas a tough one for the Indians to lose for they had several other
excellent opportunities toscore; but they
came home
with a moral victory over the nationally-rankedWin-gate team.

PREP 6The Braves ended their season in a blaze of glory as they outscrapped the gridironwarriorsofColumbian
Prep, Washington, D. C. It was a bruising
homecoming
battle from the opening whistle and thegame
was
highlighted by savage play on the part of two well-coached lines. The Cadets got the game's firsttally, but J. C. Young
made
it 6-6 just three minutes laterwhen
he went over from the one-yard line.Late in the third period the Braves wrapped it up
when
Carawan recovereda Prepfumble and Lanny Roofpitched a perfect strike into the waiting arms of Captain PhilCollins inthe end zoneforthewinning

Head Coach "Ike" Davisdeveloped a potent offense from the fleet of backs pictured above. John Hogan, freshman quarterback from
New
Bern, was handling the team like a veteranwhen
the season closed.Three fine and powerful fullbacks were a real joy to Coach Davis: Lawerence Kearson and Lanny Roof
were consistent and dependable and Clyde
Morgan
was the squad's leading ground gainer forthesea-son. Halfbacks J. C. Young,
Jimmy
Foster and severalothers were constant break-away threats. Thepass-ing of
Jimmy

other backfield highlights.THE

Assistant Coach "Gig" Lloyd handled the

outstand-ing. At the tackle posts.
Tommy
